Lead SDET – Python / Playwright

Location: Vancouver, BC (1ST Preference) Calgary (2nd)

  1. QA Automation Lead Engineer (SDET – Python) role focused on building and maintaining scalable automation frameworks with strong Python and Pytest framework.
  2. Requires hands-on experience in UI automation with Playwright, Standalone API testing, and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  3. Strong QA background with exposure to test strategies and QA processes
  4. Expert level hands-on skills in QA Automation using Playwright
  5. Lead talent with experience defining strategy & framework for automation of manual test cases
  6. Experience in AI testing and hands on usage of AI MCPs. Good if they have MCPs
  7. Involves defining test strategy, executing regression/system/sanity testing, and performing release and production validation.
  8. Ideal candidate should understand QA methodologies, Agile practices, test data management, and collaborate effectively with Product, Dev, and DevOps teams.
  9. Good communication skills
  10. Experience collaborating with customers and geographically distributed teams (US/Canada/India) in driving QA automation initiatives

Responsibilities

Lead the design and maintenance of scalable Python and Pytest automation frameworks, including Playwright UI automation and standalone API testing, and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines. Define automation and test strategies, execute regression, system, and sanity testing, and support release and production validation while collaborating with Product, Development, DevOps, customers, and distributed teams.

Requirements

Requires strong hands-on Python, Pytest, and Playwright automation experience, a solid QA background, and experience defining automation strategies and frameworks for manual test cases. Candidates should understand QA methodologies, Agile practices, and test data management, with AI testing and AI MCP experience, strong communication, and collaboration across distributed teams also sought.
