Sprung Studios is looking for an HR Manager to join our team in Vancouver.

We're seeking a hands-on HR Manager to own the people function end-to-end, align HR priorities with business goals, and build a culture people actually want to work in. You'll partner directly with leadership to keep HR aligned with where the business is headed, and you'll own day-to-day HR operations: employee relations, performance management, and compliance across the organization. This role is for someone who thrives on building a workforce plan and staying on top of the details that keep operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Operations

Align HR programs and practices with business objectives to drive organizational performance and employee engagement.
Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on people-related decisions, organizational design, and change management.
Develop, document, and continuously improve HR policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
Ensure compliance with BC employment standards, legislation (ESA, Human Rights Code, PIPA, Pay Transparency Act), and HR best practices; proactively recommend and implement updates.
Monitor HR metrics (turnover, time-to-fill, engagement, absence trends) and report on workforce health to leadership.
Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across hiring, development, and workplace culture.

Talent Management & Employee Experience

Lead full-cycle performance management processes, including probationary and annual reviews, ensuring consistency, fairness, and quality documentation.
Design and monitor onboarding programs to accelerate employee integration, productivity, and retention.
Build and maintain a proactive recruitment pipeline to support workforce planning and business growth, including sourcing, interviewing, and offer negotiation.
Support career development and succession planning, identifying growth paths and skill gaps across teams.
Coordinate training and development initiatives, including compliance training and leadership development.
Lead or support employee engagement initiatives, surveys, and action planning.

Employee Relations & Compliance

Oversee fair and consistent application of disciplinary and grievance processes, mitigating risk and supporting positive outcomes.
Provide strategic guidance and communication on employee relations matters, balancing employee experience with organizational needs.
Manage sensitive employee cases, including workplace incidents, health matters, harassment/discrimination complaints, and confidential issues, ensuring discretion, thorough investigation, and compliance.
Conduct and document formal workplace investigations, applying procedural fairness and defensible practices.
Support immigration-related processes by coordinating required documentation, timelines, and employee communications.
Advise managers on performance improvement plans, terminations, and legally sound documentation practices.

HR Administration & Systems

Ensure accurate and compliant employee records management, including contracts, offer letters, and documentation.
Implement and manage HR systems (BambooHR), including absence tracking, reporting dashboards, and workflow automation to improve operational efficiency.
Administer and communicate employee benefits, including PTO, sick leave, WFH allowances, and new programs such as RRSP plans.
Maintain HR policy manuals, employee handbooks, and internal knowledge resources, ensuring they remain current and accessible.
Own internal HR communications, including policy rollouts, benefits updates, and organizational announcements.

Payroll & Compensation

Liaise with the Finance Manager regarding employee lifecycle changes, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and Records of Employment (ROEs).
Communicate and Liaise with the Finance Manager year-end payroll activities and reporting requirements (T4s, remittances, reconciliations).
Support compensation benchmarking and pay equity reviews to ensure market competitiveness and internal fairness.
Support benefits administration and compensation-related processes, including plan renewals and vendor coordination.

Requirements

5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a management or senior generalist capacity.
CPHR designation (or actively working toward) strongly preferred.
Strong working knowledge of BC employment legislation and HR compliance requirements.
Experience administering payroll and HRIS platforms (BambooHR or equivalent).
Demonstrated experience managing employee relations cases and workplace investigations.
Excellent judgment, discretion, and communication skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive situations diplomatically.
