Are you passionate about bringing people together through meaningful events, creating welcoming community experiences, and supporting wellness through exceptional planning and coordination? Squamish Nation is seeking an Event Planner Administrative Coordinator to join the Háhalhi7iwan Wellness Department within Nexwnínlhewá7nem Ch'áwch’aw People Services.

In this impactful role, you will plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate culturally grounded community events, workshops, and wellness initiatives for Squamish Nation Adults and Elders. Working collaboratively with Wellness staff, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Nation departments, community partners, and vendors, you will help create welcoming, culturally safe, and engaging experiences that strengthen connection, learning, and community wellness.

What You’ll Do

Plan and coordinate culturally safe wellness programs, workshops, events, and community initiatives that promote the health, well-being, resilience, and connection of Squamish Nation Adults and Elders.
Coordinate events from planning through delivery, including venues, vendors, catering, transportation, accommodations, audio/visual services, equipment, schedules, signage, décor, setup, and other operational requirements.
Develop and maintain an annual calendar of Adult and Elder wellness programs, workshops, events, and community activities in collaboration with the Wellness Team.
Manage event and workshop registrations and participant communications, including attendance tracking, reminders, updates, cancellations, and post-event follow-up.
Provide on-site event coordination and support, responding to operational needs and helping ensure activities run smoothly.
Build collaborative relationships with Squamish Nation departments, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, cultural leaders, external organizations, community partners, vendors, and Nation Members.
Coordinate outreach, promotional materials, and event communications in collaboration with the Communications team to increase community awareness and participation.
Support event-related financial administration, including quotes, purchase requests, vendor payments, invoices, expense and budget tracking, and documentation related to funding requirements.
Coordinate multiple events, workshops, departmental projects, and special initiatives while maintaining planning tools, timelines, documentation, and reporting requirements.
Gather participant and partner feedback, evaluate event outcomes, and identify opportunities to continuously strengthen future events, programs, and administrative processes.

What We’re Looking For

Degree or certificate in Hospitality Management, Marketing, Business, or Communications, plus 5 to 6 years of directly related work experience across the key responsibilities of the position.
Strong event and administrative coordination skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship-building skills, with a professional and adaptable communication style.
High level of emotional intelligence, patience, integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and sensitivity when working with vulnerable populations.
Experience working with a large-scale computerized database system.
Experience working with Indigenous communities and an understanding of the cultural, historical, and socio-economic factors affecting Indigenous mental health and wellness is an asset.
Valid BC Class 4 or 5 Driver’s Licence (Class 7N may be considered), with access to a reliable vehicle and current auto insurance that meets company policy.
Ability to travel to multiple sites throughout Squamish Nation territory, including the Squamish Valley, and locations throughout the Lower Mainland.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required, occasionally with limited advance notice.
Knowledge and understanding of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw history, culture, customs, lands, and People.
