Are you passionate about supporting community members as they work toward their education, training, and employment goals? Squamish Nation is seeking a Program Officer to join the Sts'its'áp'new̓as Employment & Future Skills Department within Nexwnínlhewá7nem Ch'áwch’aw People Services.
In this impactful role, you will coordinate programs and work directly with students to support their training journey, from intake and orientation through program participation. Working collaboratively with the Training & Trades Centre team, you will help coordinate culture, safety, technical, and job-readiness training while connecting students with supports and resources to help address barriers to training. You will also maintain student and program records, support program budgeting and tracking, and contribute to a welcoming and supportive environment where community members can take steps toward education, training, and employment while maintaining their traditional values.
What You’ll Do
- Works with Senior Program Officer(s) to onboard students and maintains, updates, and presents the Training & Trades Centre orientation program.
- Completes student intake processes and support students one-on-one, helping identify training needs, determines appropriate programming, and connects them with available resources and supports.
- Sets up, maintains, and tracks student files in the database, ensuring program and student information is kept organized and up to date.
- Oversees the student assessment process and ensures students connect with the Health and Wellness Counsellor, communicating relevant updates regarding student supports.
- Coordinates all components and activities of Training & Trades Centre programs, including culture training, safety training, technical training, and job readiness.
- Creates and maintains program tracking and budget binders, keeps accurate and current records, and supports the tracking and correct coding of program costs.
- Works collaboratively with team members to help students address barriers to training, including areas such as housing and transportation.
- Researches and facilitates community-based surveys and sessions to gather information about training interests and industry needs.
- Participates in and coordinates fundraising activities, special projects, and events.
- Contributes collaboratively to the Squamish Nation Education, Employment and Training team while supporting departmental and program goals.
What We’re Looking For
- Certificate specializing in Business Administration, Project Management, or a relevant/related field from a recognized post-secondary institution. A combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.
2 to 3 years of directly related experience across the majority of the position's responsibilities, including organization, planning, student support, coordination, file and form management, spreadsheet tracking, budgeting, and facilitation.
Strong organizational, coordination, and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, exceptional customer service, and a professional and adaptable communication style.
High level of emotional intelligence, patience, integrity, professionalism, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft applications, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data entry, as well as experience working with a large-scale computerized database.
Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence (Class N may be considered), with access to a reliable vehicle and current auto insurance that meets company policy.
Valid First Aid Level 2 Certification or willingness to obtain it within a set timeframe.
Ability to travel and work in the Squamish Valley office as needed and to work evenings and weekends as required. This position supports evening programs, with working hours of 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Wage Rate: $25.86 - $32.32 hourly
