The Genomics Health Services & Policy Research Group specializes in evaluating the adoption of new genomic technologies in clinical practice. We conduct mixed methods research such as randomized controlled trials, qualitative and survey studies. We assess patient & provider preferences, health
outcomes and economic impacts of implementing genetic tests in practice. We partner with a wide range of clinicians, laboratory scientists, health services researchers and policy makers across Canada, the US& Europe to develop the evidence and inform policy and practice.
The Genomics Health Services & Policy Research Group is currently seeking a Research Assistant I to support the study, "Toward Equity in Cancer Genetics: Identifying Racial Disparities in Cancer Genetics Services." The primary role of the Research Assistant I is to provide essential research, organizational, and administrative support to the study team and Principal Investigators. A major responsibility will involve conducting detailed chart reviews and data extraction from electronic medical records to support the collection of study data. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately abstracting, entering, validating, and maintaining research data in accordance with study protocols and institutional privacy requirements. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with data management and quality assurance activities, maintaining study documentation, preparing research materials, tracking project timelines and deliverables, coordinating meetings, supporting Research Ethics Board submissions and amendments, assisting with literature reviews, recruiting research participants, screening and obtaining informed consent from research participants, and providing general administrative support to ongoing research projects. The Research Assistant I will work closely with investigators, research staff, and collaborating institutions to support study operations and contribute to the successful execution of research activities. In general, the role provides project support for the research team and Principal Investigators and contributes to the efficient coordination and implementation of research studies.
This is an entry level role with potential for progression to level II and potentially Research Coordination.

Duties & Responsibilities
Research Duties (70% of work time): The Research Assistant I will support the study "Toward Equity in Cancer Genetics: Identifying Racial Disparities in Cancer Genetics Services" and other related research initiatives.
- Conduct detailed chart reviews and abstract data from electronic medical records and institutional databases according to study protocols.
- Screen study participants for study eligibility and conducting and obtaining informed consent.
- Extract, collect, organize, quality control, and enter study-related data into research databases and tracking tools.
- Verify data accuracy, identify discrepancies, and perform data cleaning activities.
- Maintain study documentation, data dictionaries, screening logs, and project tracking records.
- Assist with the preparation of research reports, study summaries, presentations, and dissemination materials.
- Perform literature searches and summarize relevant findings to support research activities.
- Participate in database processing, maintenance, and management.
- Assist with qualitative and quantitative data collection activities as required.
- Support manuscript preparation, poster development, knowledge translation activities, and literature reviews.
- Ensure compliance with research ethics, privacy legislation, institutional policies, and study protocols.
Administrative Duties (30% of work time)
- Provide general administrative support to the research team and Principal Investigators.
- Maintain study files, electronic records, filing systems, and project documentation.
- Schedule meetings, prepare meeting materials, distribute agendas, and record meeting notes.
- Coordinate communications with internal and external collaborators, participating sites, and research partners.
- Draft correspondence, reports, forms, meeting summaries, and other study-related documentation.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of Research Ethics Board (REB) applications,
- amendments, renewals, and study registrations.
- Collect and organize investigator documents, including CVs, training records, and conflict of interest forms.
- Perform other research and administrative duties as assigned.
Performs cross functional and other duties as assigned and/or requested.

Qualifications
- Undergraduate Degree or 2 year of relevant experience OR demonstrable equivalent combination of specialized education and experience.
- TCPS CORE 2 is preferred (Completed within first 2 weeks of hire)
- Good clinical practice certificate is an asset (Completed within first 2 weeks of hire)
- Computer skills, particularly database, spreadsheet and word processing.
- Organizational and time management skills, including multi-tasking and flexibility to adapt to changing workload.
- Problem solving skills
- Communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proven ability to learn new skills
