About Staccato

In a world where companies are quickly building AI tools that will replace human jobs, our mission is to instead empower music creators with AI.

At Staccato, we’ve built an AI co-writer for music producers, enabling them to unlock a constant state of creative flow. Our flagship product helps artists create, extend, and rewrite music using simple text prompts. It listens to your music, understands musical context, and offers suggestions to help you move your music forward.

What sets Staccato apart is its use of MIDI, the digital language of music used by professionals. Unlike audio-based AI tools, this allows for precise control over individual notes and instrument selection, making it easy to edit, customize, and build on your ideas.

You can watch Staccato in action here:

https://www.youtube.com/@staccato_ai

Staccato has been featured in The Globe and Mail, Fast Company, and Billboard.com. We are the first (and only) venture capital-backed AI music startup in Canada. Our team is growing, and this is where you come in.

The Role

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer (Typescript, React, Node.js, and C++) to rapidly develop our desktop application, which brings our generative ML music technology to producers. You will be the fourth member of the core tech team and will be responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment. You'll report directly to our Co-Founder and play a key role in leading the tech team as it grows, including mentoring developers, reviewing code, and helping set technical direction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop the front-end functionality of our customer-facing website and desktop application using React and Node.js
  • Design and implement server-side architecture of the applications and public APIs (including data storage), ensuring they scale to large amounts of traffic and data
  • Implement best practices to ensure applications work across operating systems and browsers and can be efficiently tested and debugged
  • Write clean, extensible, and reusable UI components
  • Work closely with the product team to implement innovative solutions and user-friendly products
  • Implement security measures to protect user data and prevent unauthorized access or data breaches
  • Help manage and mentor the development team, including code reviews, task planning, and setting coding standards
  • Work with our co-founder on technical decisions and team priorities as we scale

Qualifications

Must Haves

  • 3+ years of industry experience in full-stack development
  • Ability to work remotely
  • Competence in Typescript, React, HTML, CSS (including Tailwind), Node.js, C++ and JavaScript
  • Proven ability to ship and maintain scalable products
  • Self-motivation and a drive to problem-solve
  • Strong work ethic
  • Adaptability in rapidly evolving environments

Nice to Haves

  • Knowledge of Next.js, Python, Firestore, and Postgres
  • Interest in and knowledge of music (a huge asset) - especially digital music (DAWs, MIDI, VSTs, etc.)
  • Experience and interest in artificial intelligence
  • Experience working in a startup
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or managing developers
  • Post-secondary degree in computer science or related field

What We Provide

  • Competitive annual salary
  • Four weeks of paid vacation (accrued)
  • A $500 annual music allowance benefit (see concerts, buy a guitar… whatever fuels your passion for music)
  • As an early team member at Staccato, you'll play a pivotal role in changing the future of music production

Working conditions

  • Remote (quiet home office setup and stable internet required)
  • Eastern Time working hours (with some flexibility)
  • One monthly in-person work day in Hamilton (travel expenses covered; candidates should live within a 2-hour commute)

Please note that this position is only open to those legally eligible to work in Canada.

Interested? Please submit a PDF copy of your resume and a link to your GitHub (if you have relevant projects to share) by Friday, October 9, 2026.

Come build the future of music production!
