Business Development Manager - Industrial Manufacturing

Lead strategic growth with established industrial customers

Are you an experienced industrial B2B sales professional who can turn technical customer needs into long-term commercial opportunities?

Staff Plus is recruiting for a Business Development Manager for an established industrial manufacturing organization in Burlington. This is a high-impact opportunity for a commercially minded sales leader who understands how to grow complex accounts, open new markets, and build credibility with senior stakeholders across manufacturing environments.

You will own a portfolio of strategic customer relationships while developing new business across a high-value industrial market. Rather than focusing on transactional sales, you will guide consultative, multi-stakeholder opportunities involving technical requirements, operational considerations, pricing, proposals, and long-term account strategy.

This role is well suited to someone who is comfortable operating between the customer and the business translating customer priorities for engineering and operations teams, shaping commercially viable solutions, and creating growth plans that deliver value for both sides.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Own meaningful commercial relationships with established industrial and manufacturing customers.
  • Combine strategic account growth with new business development, giving you influence across the full sales cycle.
  • Work on complex, consultative opportunities where industry knowledge, persistence, and commercial judgment matter.
  • Engage with senior customer stakeholders and help shape long-term purchasing and partnership decisions.
  • Influence account strategy, pricing, proposals, negotiations, and growth plans rather than simply managing inbound demand.
  • Partner directly with engineering, production, operations, and customer experience teams to turn customer requirements into practical solutions.
  • Build on an established customer and operational platform while identifying new avenues for expansion.
  • Join an organization where strong relationship management and disciplined business development can have a visible impact on revenue growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Build, manage, and expand strategic relationships with industrial and manufacturing clients.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through prospecting, account development, referrals, and market intelligence.
  • Develop a strong understanding of each customer’s operations, technical requirements, business priorities, and long-term objectives.
  • Lead consultative sales conversations and guide customers through complex, long-cycle buying processes.
  • Prepare and present proposals, pricing recommendations, account plans, and commercial strategies.
  • Lead or support negotiations with customer stakeholders and internal decision-makers.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, production, operations, and customer experience teams to deliver practical, customer-focused solutions.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline information, sales forecasts, and account plans.
  • Build relationships with senior customer stakeholders and represent the organization with professionalism and credibility.
  • Travel to customer locations, primarily within the United States, approximately 25% of the time based on business requirements.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in B2B sales, business development, or strategic account management within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in steel, heavy industrial, automotive, engineered products, or a related manufacturing sector is strongly preferred.
  • A demonstrated record of generating new business while growing and retaining existing accounts.
  • Experience managing complex, consultative, and long-cycle sales opportunities.
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to connect customer needs with practical business solutions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
  • The ability to build trust with senior customer stakeholders and collaborate effectively with technical and operational teams.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary of $110,000–$140,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Target annual discretionary bonus.
  • Generous Paid Time Off
  • Comprehensive benefits effective from the first day of employment.
  • Eligibility for the employer pension program.
  • Hybrid work flexibility.
