The Inspector Detail I at Standard Aero’s Military and Defense business unit in Winnipeg is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Inspector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting visual inspections of aircraft parts, identifying their state upon receipt, and ensuring that all products meet quality standards.
What You Will Do
- Conduct visual inspections of aircraft parts and determine their scrap or serviceable status.
- Input inspection information accurately into the system.
- Ensure products are clean and in acceptable condition for inspections.
- Determine repairability of products not meeting requirements.
- Record inspection results and generate cost estimates and repair documentation.
- Inspect and identify parts in the Reduced to Spares (RTS) process.
- Supervise detail inspection trainees in the on-the-job training (OJT) process.
- Participate in continuous improvement of cell processes.
- Cross-train in complementary skills and support production requirements.
- Observe safety requirements and report unsafe practices or conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting applicable technical data, OEM Manuals
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Ability to sit for extended periods during inspections and documentation tasks with or without reasonable accommodation
- Completion of a formal technical training program or ability to complete the Detail Inspector Training & Development Plan within a defined timeframe
- Minimum 1 year of experience completing technical documentation or inspection reports in a professional or industrial setting
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous inspection experience preferred.
- Experience in an aircraft maintenance, repair, overhaul facility preferred.
- Previous experience in inspection, maintenance, or repair environments.
- Working knowledge of production management systems and internal control systems.
- Ability to interpret product wear and damage resulting from service use
- Familiarity with technical publications such as charts, graphs, and manuals.
- Strong skills in reading and interpreting technical data.
