Your Opportunity

Our Markham office has an opportunity for an entry-level Survey Technician within our Geospatial Group.

The Earth is top of mind for our Geospatial team. On, above, and under the Earth’s surface, we provide our clients a full range of surveying and mapping services. Through our work, we define land boundaries and analyze spatial data. Your Key Responsibilities

Perform surveying tasks using GNSS survey instruments, digital levels, 3D laser scanners, and conventional survey equipment.
Assist the Survey Party Chief with tasks related to surveying and construction layout.
Assisting in the preparation of field notes/sketches and completing field data downloads and uploads.
Maintaining field equipment and vehicles.
Communicate effectively with members of the team and follow standard procedures.
Responsible for maintaining field equipment and vehicles.
Responsible for safe operation of tools and equipment, complying with OHSA and Stantec’s HSSE policies.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Technical and mathematical skills along with the ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting survey equipment with a weight of up to 50 lbs.) in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
Valid driver's license and a good driving record with the ability to travel across southwestern Ontario with occasional overnight stays.

Education and Experience

Post-secondary education in Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline is preferred but not required.
Previous experience working with Robotic Total Stations, GNSS survey equipment, laser scanners, and digital levels is considered a significant asset.
