Original job description

Fundraising Systems & Data Lead
Full Time

Why STARS
At STARS, we come to work every day with a purpose…to save lives. Whether you work in the aircraft or at one of our six bases, everyone at STARS plays a vital role in helping to provide critical care, anywhere. Since flying our first mission in 1985, we have never lost sight of what is most important – our VIPs, or Very Important Patients. Each year, we fly over 3,000 missions, providing world-class critical medical care whenever and wherever we are needed, and every team member contributes to helping that VIP. We are a lifeline to the community when time and clinical expertise can make all the difference.

We are currently looking for a Fundraising Systems & Data Lead to join our Foundation team at our Calgary base to lead the day-to-day administration, governance and continued evolution of the STARS Foundation donor database and fundraising data practices.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Fundraising Operations & Analytics, this role serves as the Foundation’s subject-matter expert and functional lead for Raiser’s Edge NXT and the broader fundraising systems and data environment. This hands-on role provides leadership in data governance, CRM best practices, process improvement and system optimization to support fundraising success.

It takes a team to make a difference in people’s lives. When it comes to STARS’ life-saving mission, it also takes individuals, communities, industry and governments. As a member of our Foundation team, you will help strengthen the systems and data foundation that enable our fundraising programs. Be part of something bigger. Be part of our team.

Key Responsibilities:

Administer and continuously improve the Foundation’s donor database (Raiser’s Edge NXT) to support fundraising operations.
Support reporting and analytics through reliable data structures, definitions and processes.
Lead donor data governance, quality standards and process improvements, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
Partner with fundraising, Finance and IT teams to translate business needs into effective queries, segmentation, reporting and data solutions.
Champion CRM adoption through staff training, documentation and ongoing support.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in database management, administration or data operations within a fundraising, non-profit or other complex data environment.
Education or training in information management, database administration, data analytics or a related field preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in data governance, data integrity and data quality management, including identifying root causes of data issues and maintaining accurate, well-structured data.
Hands-on experience administering and maintaining a CRM or donor database, with the ability to manage complex queries, data imports/exports, reporting and process improvements; Raiser’s Edge NXT experience is an asset.
Proven ability to lead initiatives and drive change by building stakeholder buy-in, translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences, and promoting consistent data practices across teams.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office, with experience using reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI considered an asset.

What we offer:
At STARS, every day we come to work with a purpose, to save lives. Maybe that’s your purpose too.

We provide a strong total reward offering inclusive of a salary tailored to your education and experience, comprehensive organization-paid health and dental benefits, free parking and more. But the real reward is joining a legacy – a legacy of lives saved, of hope in the fact of the unimaginable, and of pride in making a difference.

When you join STARS, you become part of a community that knows we’re stronger together. It takes a team to deliver the highest standards of care, and we need you to help us be our best.

Elevate your career. Be part of something bigger. Be part of STARS.

How to Apply/ Deadline to apply:
If you are the person we are looking for and would like to make a difference with your career, please make sure to apply by closing date: November 22, 2026
