Original job description
At Steele Auto Group, work is more than a job. It is a chance to inspire positive impact through every interaction, every vehicle, every journey. Our people are at the heart of it all, because everything we do is driven by you. Your passion. Your purpose. Your potential.
Lead. Innovate. Grow. Build Something Bigger.
Steele Ford Lincoln Used Cars has been a Halifax landmark on Windsor Street since the early 1970s. As one of Atlantic Canada's busiest Ford used vehicle operations, we're looking for an ambitious, results-driven Used Car Manager to lead our team and take our used vehicle business to the next level.
This is more than an opportunity to manage an established department. It's your chance to shape strategy, maximize inventory opportunities, develop a high-performing sales team, and make a measurable impact on dealership profitability.
We're looking for a hands-on automotive leader who understands the used vehicle market, thinks strategically, embraces modern digital retailing, and knows how to turn opportunities into results.
Wage commensurate with knowledge, skills, and abilities.
What You'll Lead
- Own the Used Vehicle Business: Oversee buying, appraisals, acquisitions, pricing, merchandising, inventory management, and sales performance.
- Maximize Every Opportunity: Ensure trade-in opportunities are captured, appraisals are competitive, and vehicles are acquired strategically to support profitability and inventory needs.
- Drive Sales Performance: Establish sales targets, monitor KPIs, manage deal desking, and implement strategies to achieve revenue and gross profit goals.
- Manage Inventory Strategically: Monitor stock levels, vehicle aging, market pricing, and inventory turnover to maintain a competitive and profitable selection.
- Lead and Develop Your Team: Coach, motivate, and hold sales representatives accountable while building a culture of performance, collaboration, and exceptional customer service.
- Embrace Digital Retailing: Leverage social media, video merchandising, online platforms, and digital marketing to generate leads, attract buyers, and increase vehicle visibility.
- Strengthen Dealership Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Finance, Marketing, and senior leadership to improve processes, close deals, and deliver an outstanding customer experience.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Analyze performance reports, identify opportunities, and implement strategies that strengthen the operation.
What You Bring
- Previous automotive management experience, ideally within a used vehicle operation.
- Strong knowledge of used vehicle appraisals, acquisitions, buying strategies, and deal desking.
- A proven ability to achieve sales targets and drive profitability.
- Experience managing inventory, vehicle aging, pricing strategies, and performance KPIs.
- A process-driven, analytical mindset with strong commercial judgment.
- A passion for social media, digital marketing, and modern automotive sales strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including coaching, motivating, and developing a team.
- Familiarity with dealership systems such as PBS, vAuto, Dealboxx, Dealertrack, and RouteOne is an asset.
- A valid driver's licence.
