At Steele Auto Group, work is more than a job. It is a chance to inspire positive impact through every interaction, every vehicle, every journey. Our people are at the heart of it all, because everything we do is driven by you. Your passion. Your purpose. Your potential.
Steele Ford Lincoln is seeking an experienced Used Car Manager to lead our pre-owned vehicle operation in Halifax, Nova Scotia!
Known for its long-standing presence on Windsor Street since the early 1970s, Steele Ford Lincoln has built a strong reputation in the Halifax automotive market. We're looking for an accomplished automotive leader who can build on that success, drive performance, and help take our used vehicle business to the next level.
This is an opportunity for a proven used vehicle professional who understands the market, knows how to acquire and merchandise the right inventory, and can lead a team to deliver outstanding sales results. You'll take ownership of the used vehicle operation, from appraisals and acquisitions to pricing, inventory management, digital retailing, and profitability.
We're looking for more than a manager who maintains the status quo. We want a hands-on, results-driven leader with a proven track record in used vehicle sales and management, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to turn opportunities into measurable results.
Compensation: Commensurate with knowledge, skills, experience, and abilities.
How you will make an impact:
-
Lead the Used Vehicle Operation: Take ownership of buying, appraisals, acquisitions, pricing, merchandising, inventory management, and overall sales performance.
-
Drive Profitable Inventory Acquisition: Maximize trade-in opportunities, conduct accurate appraisals, and develop strategic buying practices to maintain the right inventory mix.
-
Deliver Sales and Profitability Results: Establish targets, monitor key performance indicators, manage deal desking, and implement strategies to achieve sales, revenue, and gross profit objectives.
-
Manage Inventory Strategically: Monitor vehicle aging, market pricing, stock levels, and inventory turnover to maintain a competitive and profitable pre-owned selection.
-
Build a High-Performing Team: Lead, coach, and motivate sales representatives, establish clear expectations, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer service.
-
Leverage Digital Retailing: Use online platforms, social media, video merchandising, and digital marketing strategies to increase vehicle visibility and generate qualified leads.
-
Strengthen Dealership Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Finance, Marketing, and senior leadership to improve processes and deliver a seamless customer experience.
-
Drive Continuous Improvement: Analyze sales and inventory reports, identify opportunities, and implement initiatives that improve department performance and profitability.
What drives your success:
-
You have proven automotive management experience, ideally leading a used vehicle department or pre-owned sales operation.
-
You have a strong track record of driving used vehicle sales, gross profit, inventory turnover, and overall dealership performance.
-
You understand used vehicle appraisals, acquisitions, wholesale opportunities, buying strategies, pricing, and deal desking.
-
You have experience managing inventory aging, merchandising, market-based pricing, and performance KPIs.
-
You bring strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to make informed, results-driven decisions.
-
You are an effective leader who can coach, develop, motivate, and hold a sales team accountable.
-
You understand modern automotive retailing and can use digital marketing, online merchandising, and social media to generate business.
-
You are organized, proactive, and comfortable balancing strategic planning with hands-on dealership operations.
-
You are familiar with dealership systems such as PBS, vAuto, Dealboxx, Dealertrack, or RouteOne; experience with these platforms is an asset.
-
You have a valid driver's license.
