This role will focus on the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of data governance frameworks, ensuring data is effectively managed as a critical organizational asset. Working closely with business and technical leaders, the successful candidate will establish governance standards, strengthen data ownership and accountability, and drive improvements in data quality and management practices. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in DAMA-DMBOK principles, ideally holding their CDMP certification, with the ability to translate enterprise data management best practices into practical governance strategies, operating models, and measurable business outcomes. If this sounds like you please apply directly or send your resume to info@stellar-recruitment.com.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the strategic development, implementation, and continuous evolution of enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating models, aligned with DAMA-DMBOK best practices.
- Establish and mature enterprise data governance structures, including data ownership, stewardship, accountability models, decision-making frameworks, and governance processes across business domains.
- Assess existing data management capabilities, identify governance gaps and organizational maturity levels, and develop strategic recommendations and roadmaps to strengthen enterprise data management practices.
- Define and oversee enterprise data quality strategies, standards, metrics, and accountability structures, ensuring data integrity, consistency, reliability, and fitness for business use.
- Provide strategic guidance on enterprise data management practices, including metadata management, business glossaries, data dictionaries, data lineage, data classification, and Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
- Engage senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to drive governance adoption, establish organizational alignment, measure program effectiveness, and demonstrate the business value of data governance initiatives.
Qualifications
- CDMP certification (Certified Data Management Professional) strongly preferred, with demonstrated knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK principles and enterprise data management best practices.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance, enterprise data management, or related disciplines, with demonstrated experience developing and maturing governance frameworks and strategies.
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise data governance operating models, including data ownership, stewardship, accountability structures, policies, standards, and governance processes.
- Strong understanding of enterprise data management disciplines, including data quality, metadata management, data architecture, data modelling, master data management, data integration, and data lifecycle management.
- Experience with enterprise data governance and metadata management platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica, or similar tools, with an emphasis on governance strategy and organizational adoption rather than hands-on administration.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership, translate complex data management concepts into business outcomes, and drive enterprise-wide change initiatives.
