Original job description

Our client is a global leader in designing and delivering exciting attractions for amusement parks around the world. We are seeking an Intermediate/Senior Engineer to join a close-knit team, contributing to the design, development, and delivery of innovative ride systems for customers worldwide. This role offers a unique blend of hands-on engineering, product development, and project management, with opportunities to collaborate across disciplines and see projects through from concept to commissioning. We welcome candidates from a range of engineering backgrounds, including mechanical, structural, and controls, particularly those with experience in heavy equipment, manufacturing, construction, or other complex industrial environments. This role involves 30-40% of travel globally, sometimes weeks at a time so would be especially exciting for someone that loves travel! If this sounds like you please apply directly or send your resume to info@stellar-recruitment.com.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engineering activities from design through production and commissioning, ensuring projects meet technical requirements, quality standards, budgets, and delivery timelines.
  • Develop and review engineering concepts, establish design requirements, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable, and innovative water ride systems.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and third-party reviewers to resolve technical challenges and ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Review designs for accuracy, safety, manufacturability, and ease of assembly while considering material selection, manufacturing processes, lifecycle costs, and applicable standards.
  • Participate in design risk assessments, failure analysis, and root cause investigations while identifying opportunities to improve products, engineering processes, and quality.
  • Travel approximately 30–40% of the time, including international assignments lasting several weeks, to support ride commissioning, assess installations, troubleshoot technical issues, and work directly with customers and project teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering in a relevant discipline, such as mechanical, structural, or controls engineering, with registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
  • Five or more years of engineering experience in complex equipment, manufacturing, heavy industry, construction, structural steel, conveyors, water-based systems, or a related environment. Direct amusement park experience is not required.
  • Experience coordinating engineering projects, reviewing technical designs, managing project deliverables, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as welding and machining, material selection, hardware, and design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA).
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively, collaborate across disciplines, and take ownership of technical challenges.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada and able to travel internationally without restrictions, including assignments lasting several weeks at a time.

Pay: $95,000 - $110,000 annually based on a 1-year term

On-site 4-5 days per week in Richmond (moving to Mount Pleasant in early 2027)
