Job Description Summary

STEMCELL, Canada’s largest biotechnology company, is hiring!

We are looking for a Senior Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst to join our growing team. In this high-impact role, you won't just track the numbers, you will tell their story and make recommendations. Partnering directly with our executive leaders and department heads, you will own the business narrative, dissecting performance variances, uncovering hidden insights, and translating raw data into compelling visual dashboards.

You will act as a key strategic partner, diving deep into non-financial metrics and deliver actionable recommendations that directly optimize business outcomes. If you are passionate about transforming data into influence and driving high-impact decisions, this role is for you!

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct data-driven analysis of financial results to deliver actionable insights and clear, step-by-step execution pathways
Collaborate within an advanced FP&A team to build, adjust, and visualize budgets and financial forecasts
Deliver on-time monthly actuals vs. budget and prior-year comparisons, highlighting key operational drivers and future outlooks
Tailor complex financial analysis and recommendations across written reports, dashboards, and oral presentations for diverse audiences
Leverage strong in-house FP&A systems and tools to improve reporting efficiency, data accuracy, and visualization quality

Knowledge and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business, with a CPA or MBA preferred; a scientific educational background is a strong asset
6–10 years of experience in accounting or finance, of which at least 3 years should be in FP&A; relevant experience may include management accounting or audit; and prior experience within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is preferred
Advanced spreadsheet proficiency and experience with business intelligence software
In-depth knowledge of financial planning tools (SAC preferred) and familiarity with ERP platforms (SAP preferred)
Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting financial insights

STEMCELL Technologies is a privately owned, Vancouver-based biotechnology company that helps power leading-edge life science research around the world. Driven by our love of science and passion for quality, we are a company of Scientists Helping Scientists - standing by our customers to provide the outstanding products, technical support, and training they need to advance their research. With over 1,800 employees globally, most with scientific or engineering degrees, STEMCELL is proud to be the largest biotechnology employer in Canada.

This is an opportunity to work with highly motivated colleagues in a science-oriented, creative, and dynamic environment. We offer a competitive salary, excellent benefits, and meaningful career development opportunities.

STEMCELL is well recognized for exceptional leadership and business practices. We are one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies and operate an ISO 14001-certified environmental management system to measure and reduce our environmental impact.

As an equal opportunity employer, STEMCELL is dedicated to ensuring that every employee feels safe, valued, and respected for who they are. We know that scientific progress and innovation occur when diverse, creative minds come together and we are committed to nurturing a culture of inclusivity and belonging. The annual salary for this job ranges from:

$83,700.00 - $125,500.00
