Field Service Technician position today!
The
Field Service Technician I is responsible for providing frontline technical support for STERIS AST's network of
electron beam (E-Beam) sterilization facilities, with a primary focus on maintaining and supporting
linear accelerator (LINAC) systems and associated processing equipment. In addition to supporting equipment within the STERIS AST network, this role also provides service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical support for similar E-Beam and accelerator technologies operated by external customers and partner organizations.The role utilizes technical expertise to perform or assist with preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, system upgrades, and continuous improvement activities both on-site and remotely. Working alongside experienced service and engineering teams, the Field Service Technician supports linear accelerator systems, electrical and mechanical subsystems, controls, safety interlocks, conveyor systems, and other critical equipment essential to electron beam processing operations.
This full-time, permanent position plays a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence while supporting STERIS' safety-focused culture and maintaining compliance with all company policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and the Global Code of Conduct.

- Additional Requirements: Must have the ability to obtain/hold a valid passport. Must have the ability to travel internationally by plane 20%-30%.
What You'll Do As a Field Service Technician
- Contribute in a team effort by performing in accordance with all STERIS policies, GMP, Lean principles and other directives.
- Support the directives and decisions of higher level management.
- Utilize collaborative service tools and systems, as well as data collection tools to gather diagnostic information for analysis. Locate and reads system schematics, drawings and documentation.
- Participate in the assembly and installation of complex equipment, primarily as a development opportunity, and will perform service and installation.
- Document service and produce timely/ detailed service reports, including what work was completed, what parts need to be sent, next steps, and final resolution status.
Required
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
- Vocational/ Technical Degree or Associates Degree and 2 years of experience in any of these areas or a combination: mechanical, electro-mechanical, robotics/ automation, PLC / software development or control systems.
- In lieu of degree, high school diploma or GED with 4 years of experience in any of these areas or a combination: mechanical, electro-mechanical, robotics/ automation, PLC / software development or control systems;
- Experience in repairing, testing and maintaining technical equipment using various electro-mechanical tools;
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, components, tests, tools, and principles;
- Fluent in English (written and oral);
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues and work cross functionally among teams;
- Must be able to obtain a passport and have the ability to travel internationally 20%-30%;
- Must have a valid provincial driver’s license with acceptable record and must maintain all required vaccines.
- Able to meet all required Customer credentialing requirements
Preferred
- Experience with industrial vacuum system would be an asset;
- Experience with high voltage or low voltage electrical system would be an asset;
- Fluency in an additional language such as French or Spanish would be an asset.

Pay range for this opportunity is $26.56 - $34.38. This position is eligible for bonus participation, with an annual bonus opportunity of 5% of your fiscal year compensation, subject to the Bonus Plan’s terms and conditions.
