Job Summary

Responsible and accountable for providing competent and compassionate care as a member of the Community Mental Health Team. The Crisis Worker provides assessment and intervention for individuals who present to the Emergency Department/Mental Health program in crisis due to symptoms associated with a serious and severe psychiatric problem and/or addiction, and/or psycho-social problem(s).

Qualifications And Experience

Bachelors in Social Work (BSW), Registered Nurse or equivalent professional discipline.
Master’s degree in counseling or related discipline preferred.
Three to five years’ experience working in the mental health field, includes crisis intervention and working with those with serious mental illness.
Experience in the hospital setting is preferred.
Experience in CBT/DBT and leading/facilitating group therapy is an asset.
Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of Best Practice guidelines in Crisis Intervention and Crisis theory.
Excellent assessment and advanced counselling skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with and advocate for individuals with severe and persistent Mental Illness.
CBT/DBT and group counselling.
Professional affiliations/memberships as appropriate.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and public relations skills
Displays and participates in team concept.
Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
Demonstrates excellent organizational and time-management skills in a stressful work environment

Demonstrated ability to work independently and willingness to be flexible to meet department needs.

Responsibilities

Requirements
