Greater Toronto Area | Hybrid
Job ID 10669
Company Description
Our client is a highly respected international logistics organization with a strong Canadian presence and a long history of helping businesses move goods with accuracy, care, and confidence.
Global Reach, Local Accountability
This is an organization with the scale, systems, and service depth to support complex supply chains across multiple modes of transportation. At the same time, its Canadian operations remain close enough to the customer to make practical decisions, solve problems quickly, and build long-term relationships.
Logistics With Standards
The company places a strong emphasis on quality, compliance, safety, and dependable service. Customers rely on them not simply to move freight, but to protect timelines, manage complexity, and keep business moving when transportation challenges arise.
A Place to Contribute and Develop
For an experienced customs professional, this is an opportunity to join a stable, established organization where accurate advice and sound judgment matter. The role offers scope to strengthen clients’ compliance practices, resolve technical customs questions and continue developing your expertise.
Compensation
The salary range is $60,000 to $65,000*. The package also includes
- An RRSP/DPSP program with company matching.
- Paid vacation and sick days.
- Ongoing professional development and opportunities for growth.
*The stated compensation range reflects the full scope of the role as currently structured and is provided in accordance with pay transparency requirements. Offers are determined based on relevant experience, demonstrated skills, internal equity, and alignment with the role’s requirements. The upper end of the range is typically reserved for candidates who fully meet all requirements and qualifications outlined in this posting and the official job description.
The Opportunity
A tariff decision can affect more than an individual shipment. It can shape how an importer handles an entire range of products.
This permanent, full-time position offers work across transaction reviews, client advisory assignments and customs verification. You will help importers establish sound compliance records, resolve technical questions and correct issues when they arise.
The role is open to candidates in the Greater Toronto Area or in Windsor. The weekday schedule includes four days onsite and one day working remotely.
Position Description
You will apply customs rules to the practical questions clients and operations colleagues encounter.
- Researching tariff classifications and maintaining product records that support consistent treatment of imported goods.
- Reviewing customs transactions before submission and helping address release questions involving other government requirements or special import provisions.
- Advising on origin, customs value, marking and temporary import requirements.
- Assessing whether goods qualify for free trade benefits and checking the supporting certificates.
- Conducting client compliance reviews and assisting with customs authority verifications and follow-up work.
- Preparing corrections, refund claims and duty drawback claims.
- Explaining technical requirements to clients and colleagues, including through training sessions.
The work calls for defensible decisions and clear explanations. A client should understand both your recommendation and what they need to do next.
Experience
At least three years of relevant experience in customs coordination, tariff analysis, customs compliance or closely related work.
Qualifications
You will need working knowledge of Canadian customs requirements, including valuation, GST/HST treatment, temporary imports, special import measures and requirements administered by other government agencies.
Strong candidates can research an unfamiliar issue, assess the evidence and reach a practical conclusion. Accuracy matters, as does the ability to explain technical findings clearly in spoken and written English.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- The ability to organize competing assignments and meet firm deadlines.
- Independent follow-through and sound judgment when resolving problems.
- A responsive approach to client service, including when a time-sensitive issue needs attention.
Education
- A high school diploma and CCS designation are required.
- A CTCS designation or relevant professional licence would be an asset.
