We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist to support a manufacturing environment and lead initiatives that promote workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental programs, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Ontario health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
- Manage workplace injury claims and return-to-work programs.
- Develop and deliver employee safety training and new hire orientations.
- Support hearing conservation, respiratory protection, emergency preparedness, and other safety programs.
- Coordinate environmental compliance activities, reporting, inspections, and required testing.
- Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and employees to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Support the Joint Health & Safety Committee and promote a strong safety culture.
- Track HSE performance, maintain records, and provide reports and recommendations to management.
Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of health and safety experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario occupational health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- JHSC certification required; CRSP or equivalent is an asset.
- Experience with workplace injury claims, return-to-work programs, and environmental compliance is an asset.
- Strong communication, investigation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build relationships and effectively influence employees and leaders at all levels.
