Be part of a team where performance, collaboration, and innovation come together to drive success.

We are seeking a Royalty Analyst to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to the Team Lead, Royalties, this role provides accounting, analysis, reporting, and administrative support for Crown royalty activities across Saskatchewan and Alberta.

The successful candidate will be responsible for recurring Crown invoice processing and analysis, supporting royalty audits, maintaining audit schedules, assisting with EOR cost classification and eventually managing annual and quarterly filings for several EOR projects. This role provides an opportunity to develop a strong understanding of Crown royalty requirements and the operational drivers that impact royalty calculations.

The position works closely with Royalty, Production Accounting, Operations Accounting, and other accounting teams to ensure information is accurate, complete, and available to support timely reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete monthly Saskatchewan Crown invoice coding
  • Perform monthly analysis of Saskatchewan Crown invoices and investigate variances or unusual items
  • Process and review monthly Alberta Crown invoices
  • Provide support for Crown and GCA audits, including gathering, validating, and organizing supporting data and invoices, tracking requests, and coordinating responses with internal teams.
  • Maintain royalty and audit schedules to ensure information is accurate, current, and readily available for reporting and audit purposes.
  • Assist with EOR cost classification and related supporting analysis
  • Prepare ad hoc business analysis, reconciliations, and journal entries as required
  • Work collaboratively with accounting team members to resolve data, coding, and accounting issues
  • Identify opportunities to improve recurring processes, reduce manual work, and improve the quality and efficiency of reporting
  • Develop knowledge of Alberta and Saskatchewan Crown royalty requirements, EOR accounting, and related processes

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field would be considered an asset
  • 3 – 5 years of accounting, production accounting, royalty, or oil and gas industry experience required
  • Experience with Crown royalty accounting or reporting would be considered an asset
  • Experience working with accounting systems and large datasets would be considered an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis
  • Ability to reconcile information from multiple sources and identify discrepancies
  • Experience with Qbyte FM and OPTIX would be considered an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and journal entry processes
  • Ability to develop an understanding of Alberta and Saskatchewan Crown royalty requirements
  • Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to identify opportunities to simplify and automate manual processes

Great things aren’t done by one person, they’re done by a team.

We believe meaningful results come from people with unwavering commitment to integrity, energy, and intelligence – how we show up matters just as much as what we deliver. We value our work, our communities, and our commitments – but most of all, we value the team of people who make what we do possible.
