Schedule
- Monday and Tuesday: 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Wednesday to Friday: 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Total: 24 hours per week
Pay rate: $27.53/hour

The primary focus of this role is supporting clients in the community. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting and accompanying clients to community activities, personal shopping, appointments, errands, and other activities that promote independence, choice, and community inclusion.
A valid Class 4 Driver’s License is a mandatory requirement for this position.
When community outings and appointments are not scheduled, the Care Aide will support the care team with personal care, transfers, daily routines, and other direct-care needs. The successful candidate may also be required to provide floor coverage and direct-care support when needed, including covering staff sick calls.
The right candidate should have experience with behaviour management, personal care, community integration, and supporting individuals with developmental and physical disabilities, mental health needs, and complex behaviours. A Medication Administration Certificate is also required.
Job Duties Include, but are not limited to:
- Provide transportation and community support for clients, including:
- Accompanying clients to medical, dental, and other appointments
- Supporting clients with personal shopping and errands
- Taking clients into the community for activities, recreation, and social opportunities
- Supporting community integration and participation
- Encouraging independence, choice, and life skills while in the community
- Safely operate organizational vehicles while transporting clients.
- Assist clients with planning and participating in meaningful community activities and routines.
- Support clients with personal shopping and decision-making while promoting independence rather than dependence.
- Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living as required.
- Assist with transfers, mobility, positioning, and other physical-care needs.
- Work alongside LPNs and other care staff to follow individual health care plans.
- Provide direct-care coverage on the floor when required, including coverage for sick calls and unexpected staffing needs.
- Implement individualized schedules, protocols, activities, and routines.
- Complete accurate daily documentation and reporting.
- Support clients with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs, and behaviors.
- Use appropriate behavior-management strategies and follow established behavior support plans.
- Support clients in developing and maintaining independence and life skills.
- Assist with community integration and meaningful participation in daily activities.
- Follow all organizational policies, procedures, health care plans, and safety requirements.
Job Qualifications Include:
- Valid BC Care Aide Registry Number
- Valid Class 4 Driver’s License – mandatory
- Safe driving record and ability to safely transport clients.
- Medication Administration Certificate from a reputable/recognized school.
- Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs, and/or behaviors.
- Experience providing personal care and assisting with transfers.
- Experience supporting individuals in the community and promoting independence.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to provide direct-care coverage when required.
