Original job description

Location - Toronto or Montreal. Pittsburgh considered.

Why Confluence?

At Confluence, we're building the future of investment data through innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement. As AI reshapes the financial services industry, we're embracing new technologies while continuing to build on the deep industry expertise and trusted partnerships that have defined our success for decades.

With colleagues across the globe, we bring together diverse experiences, perspectives and expertise to tackle complex challenges and create meaningful impact. Whether you're starting your career or bringing years of experience, you'll have the opportunity to learn, contribute and help shape what's next.

We are looking for a Senior IT Infrastructure Administrator, DevOps to join our Cloud Infrastructure team and help build the next generation of Confluence’s cloud environment.

This is predominantly a hands on DevOps, cloud automation and engineering role, rather than a traditional infrastructure support position. You will contribute to Cloudnxt Azure, our new Azure foundation, helping migrate products including Omnia, One Connect and UDL onto a common cloud environment. You will work on Infrastructure as Code, cloud migration, deployment automation and the processes needed to operate these environments effectively.

You will join an internationally distributed team and play an important part in accelerating our move towards repeatable, automated infrastructure. While project delivery will be your main focus, you will also bring enough broader infrastructure knowledge to provide cover across Windows, Linux and Active Directory when required.

Technology Stack

Microsoft Azure | Terraform | Jenkins | CI/CD | Git | Windows | Linux | Active Directory | Python | PowerShell | Bash | Ansible | AWS | Generative AI tools including Claude

Key Responsibilities

Build and automate cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles, supporting Confluence’s evolving Azure environment.
Support cloud migration projects as products move onto the Cloudnxt Azure platform.
Develop automation that replaces manual infrastructure processes with repeatable, version controlled solutions across Microsoft and Linux environments.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes using Jenkins or equivalent technologies.
Use generative AI tools responsibly to accelerate coding, automation, troubleshooting and technical documentation, while critically reviewing and validating outputs.
Create clear technical documentation, procedures and runbooks while contributing to the wider team’s operational responsibilities when required.

Essential Requirements

Practical experience delivering Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
Experience working with a major cloud platform. Azure is preferred, although relevant AWS experience and the ability to transfer your knowledge to Azure will also be considered.
Software engineering capability demonstrated through development, advanced scripting or automation projects.
Programming or scripting capability using a relevant language such as Python, PowerShell, Bash or Java. You do not need experience with every language listed.
Experience automating Microsoft and Windows based environments and a willingness to work across both Windows and Linux technologies.
Experience with CI/CD principles and tooling such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or equivalent.
An automation focused engineering mindset with the ability to learn unfamiliar technologies and apply transferable engineering principles.
A willingness to use generative AI as part of your engineering workflow and the judgement to review, validate and improve AI generated outputs.

Desirable Requirements

Hands on Azure experience, particularly across cloud infrastructure, automation, migrations or landing zones.
Experience with Ansible or other configuration management technologies.
Knowledge of monitoring, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, vulnerability remediation or cloud security.
Practical experience using Claude or another generative AI assistant for engineering, troubleshooting, log analysis or documentation.
Relevant cloud or automation certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect or HashiCorp Terraform Associate.

Benefits

Confluence offers generous benefit packages for team members. As a growing, global organization, we are always looking for ways to ensure that our employees can access benefits that matter to them and their families. This includes:

🕚 Generous Time Off packages including additional half days with each public holiday in your location.

More about the Location

We offer flexible working options for all employees. Ideally you would be based in or near Toronto or Montreal to be able to attend the office approximately twice per week. However, we would also consider individuals in Pittsburgh.

AI Use In Interviews

To ensure a fair and consistent assessment for all candidates, we ask that you do not use AI tools, external assistance or prepared real time prompts during ta screening call or interview unless we have specifically advised that these are permitted.

The interview is designed to assess your own experience, thought process and communication skills. If AI use is permitted as part of an exercise, we will clearly explain this beforehand.

Pre-Employment Screening Disclaimer

As part of our recruitment process, we carry out identity checks on all candidates. Offers of employment are conditional upon the completion of satisfactory background checks prior to the commencement of work. These checks may include verification of identity, right to work in the UK, employment history, and other relevant pre-employment screening.
