Original job description

Member Advisor (Permanent, Full Time)

Who are we?

Sudbury Credit Union was founded in 1951 with one simple value - ‘people helping people.’ This value has remained a constant throughout our history and resonates today as much as it did then.

As a community-minded financial co-operative, Sudbury Credit Union is committed to the well-being of our employees, our members and our community. We serve over 15,000 Sudburians extending from Levack to Minnow Lake, from our six local branches to your smartphone, and from small community groups to large local companies. We provide all the banking solutions you would expect from a financial institution, but with a unique understanding of our local needs. We know Sudbury because we ARE Sudbury.

We are truly community-minded, just like you, and are proud to be a part of the fabric of Sudbury. To see what makes Sudbury Credit Union different, click here. Come be part of something bigger.

The Opportunity?

Our Member Advisors (MA) provide our Members with expert guidance when it comes to selecting the financial products and services that they need to succeed in life. You will take great pride in helping our members reach their financial goals, and show a commitment to lifelong learning to ensure that your members are always getting the best quality advice. The salary range for this role will be based on experience and education.

What will you do?

As an MA you will build and strengthen relationships with new and existing members, meeting their financial needs by recommending a full range of solutions including mortgages, personal loans, deposit accounts, investments and other services.

What will you need to succeed?

The successful candidate will have a relevant post-secondary diploma or equivalent demonstrated work experience. Minimum 3 years' experience in credit union or banking industry with demonstrated progression of responsibilities. Personal Financial Planner (PFP) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or equivalent experience is required for a senior role.

Nice to have?

Experience in both personal and business banking.

What's in it for you?

A competitive financial compensation package
Organizational commitment to work life balance
Paid leave including vacation, sick and personal leave
Health Care, Life Insurance and Short and Long Term Disability benefits that are 100% employer paid
Participation in our pension plan
Dedicated professional development dollars invested in each employee to foster success
Staff rates on loans and mortgages
Reduced staff trading fees on Qtrade
Free parking at all our locations

Additional bonuses - a social committee that puts on several free family events throughout the year so you can bond with the whole SCU team.

Recruitment

If you are interested in joining our SCU family please visit our website at sudburycu.com.

If you feel you are qualified, what are you waiting for? Send us an updated cover letter and resume by 5 pm on Friday, November 27th, 2026. Interviews will commence as resumes are received so apply early if you have the experience and education.

Health & Safety

All of our locations have protocols, policies and practices in place to ensure we are doing everything possible to protect our staff, members, and the community.

Location

Sudbury Credit Union has several locations throughout the City of Greater Sudbury. There is no guarantee of work location however for continuity of service to Members we try our best to keep employees at one location so our Members can benefit from the strong relationships you build with them.

Candidates who require special accommodations during the application or interview process are asked to contact the HR Department. All applications will be reviewed and assessed by experienced Sudbury Credit Union professionals; we do not use artificial intelligence tools to screen candidates.

We are an equal opportunity employer and thank all applicants; however only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Resumes will be retained in our talent pool for a period of six months.

Please note that all employees of Sudbury Credit Union MUST be bondable. This includes both Criminal Record and Credit Checks.
