Store Manager Opportunities
Our Store Managers are highly visible, hands-on leaders who take ownership of the entire store experience - people, customers, sales, merchandising, inventory, labour, standards, and operational performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable Department Managers and store employees.
- Build a positive, high-performing, customer-focused store culture.
- Maintain exceptional standards for customer service, merchandising, cleanliness, product availability, and overall store presentation.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, labour, inventory, shrink, operational execution, and store readiness.
- Review sales, labour, margins, inventory, shrink, and other performance indicators to identify opportunities and take action.
- Partner with Department Managers to maintain strong in-stock positions while controlling overstock, shrink, waste, and markdowns.
- Walk departments regularly and ensure displays are full, fresh, well-merchandised, correctly priced, and visually impactful.
- Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and develop employees while building a strong internal leadership pipeline.
- Address performance and employee relations matters in partnership with Human Resources.
- Lead opening and closing operations and maintain strong leadership coverage throughout the week.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and empower employees to deliver exceptional service.
- Lead execution of promotions, holidays, seasonal programs, merchandising initiatives, and special events.
- Ensure food safety, health & safety, loss prevention, and company policies and procedures are consistently followed.
- Collaborate with Operations, Category Management, Purchasing, Marketing, HR, IT, Finance, and other support teams.
- Maintain strong communication between departments and ensure company and store priorities are understood and executed.
- Remain highly visible on the sales floor and step in wherever the team or customer needs support.
Department Manager Opportunities
Our Department Managers are the owners of their departments. They combine people leadership, customer service, inventory management, ordering, merchandising, sales performance, and hands-on execution.
Depending on the department, responsibilities may include:
- Lead, coach, schedule, train, and develop department employees.
- Create a positive, productive, accountable, and customer-focused team environment.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve customer concerns.
- Take ownership of ordering, receiving, inventory, replenishment, rotation, and product availability.
- Maintain strong in-stock positions while actively managing overstock, shrink, waste, markdowns, and inventory accuracy.
- Review sales and inventory trends and adjust ordering, merchandising, production, and staffing accordingly.
- Create and maintain exceptional displays with strong attention to merchandising, product placement, abundance, freshness, seasonality, and presentation.
- Execute promotional, seasonal, and holiday merchandising programs.
- Maintain accurate pricing, signage, displays, and promotional execution.
- Monitor sales, margins, labour, inventory, shrink, waste, and overall department performance.
- Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and develop employees.
- Manage schedules, daily assignments, productivity, and department coverage.
- Maintain food safety, health & safety, cleanliness, loss prevention, and operational standards.
- Collaborate closely with Store Management and other Department Managers.
- Act as Lead on Duty (LOD) when scheduled, providing visible store-wide leadership, resolving customer concerns, supporting employees across departments, assisting with opening and closing, and monitoring store cleanliness, merchandising, staffing, safety, and overall readiness.
- Be hands-on and willing to work alongside the team wherever support is needed.
What We’re Looking For
We want to connect with grocery professionals who bring a combination of strong leadership and strong operational knowledge.
Ideally, you have:
- Previous management experience in grocery, specialty food, fresh food, retail, or another high-volume customer-facing environment.
- Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Department Manager, or comparable leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of inventory management, ordering, merchandising, replenishment, product rotation, shrink, and waste control.
- A passion for exceptional displays, product presentation, and creating an inviting shopping experience.
- Strong customer service instincts and the ability to build relationships with customers.
- Experience recruiting, training, coaching, motivating, and developing teams.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of sales, labour, margins, inventory, shrink, and profitability.
- Strong organization, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- The confidence to identify issues, make decisions, and hold yourself and others accountable.
- A hands-on leadership style - our leaders are expected to be present and engaged on the floor.
- A genuine passion for food, retail, people, and continuous improvement.
Shift Schedule & Availability
Grocery retail is a seven-day-a-week business, and our leadership team must be available when our stores and customers need them.
Successful candidates should have flexible availability across weekdays and weekends, including opening and closing shifts, evenings, holidays, and peak seasonal periods.
Store Managers and Department Managers are expected to provide leadership coverage based on the operational needs of their location and department.
