Key responsibilities include:

  • Partner with Department Managers to maintain strong in-stock positions while controlling overstock, shrink, waste, and markdowns.
  • Walk departments regularly and ensure displays are full, fresh, well-merchandised, correctly priced, and visually impactful.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and develop employees while building a strong internal leadership pipeline.
  • Address performance and employee relations matters in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Lead opening and closing operations and maintain strong leadership coverage throughout the week.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and empower employees to deliver exceptional service.
  • Lead execution of promotions, holidays, seasonal programs, merchandising initiatives, and special events.
  • Ensure food safety, health & safety, loss prevention, and company policies and procedures are consistently followed.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Category Management, Purchasing, Marketing, HR, IT, Finance, and other support teams.
  • Maintain strong communication between departments and ensure company and store priorities are understood and executed.
  • Remain highly visible on the sales floor and step in wherever the team or customer needs support.
Department Manager Opportunities

Our Department Managers are the owners of their departments. They combine people leadership, customer service, inventory management, ordering, merchandising, sales performance, and hands-on execution.

Depending on the department, responsibilities may include:

  • Create and maintain exceptional displays with strong attention to merchandising, product placement, abundance, freshness, seasonality, and presentation.
  • Execute promotional, seasonal, and holiday merchandising programs.
  • Maintain accurate pricing, signage, displays, and promotional execution.
  • Monitor sales, margins, labour, inventory, shrink, waste, and overall department performance.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and develop employees.
  • Manage schedules, daily assignments, productivity, and department coverage.
  • Maintain food safety, health & safety, cleanliness, loss prevention, and operational standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Store Management and other Department Managers.
  • Act as Lead on Duty (LOD) when scheduled, providing visible store-wide leadership, resolving customer concerns, supporting employees across departments, assisting with opening and closing, and monitoring store cleanliness, merchandising, staffing, safety, and overall readiness.
  • Be hands-on and willing to work alongside the team wherever support is needed.
