Job Description
Summitt Energy is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our growing team in our Information Technology department. The incumbent will be reporting to the Manager of Information Technology. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for desktop support, application support, network administration, managing servers, and voice and data communication services. As the part of the team responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting in desktop, server, hardware and software environments both in-person and via remote connection tools, this position requires someone with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. The System Administrator provides support for the escalation of IT issues and communication of status to management and internal customers. They will also assist in project implementation and post-implementation support. Some afterhours and/or weekend work and travel to local and remote facilities will be required on occasion to address issues that cannot be resolved during production hours.

- Work Location: Mississauga, Ontario
- Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, regular business hours, with participation in an on-call support rotation as required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supporting network engineering, business application, and database administration functions to implement desktop and server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives
- Deploy and maintain workstations, laptops, servers, multifunction printers, mobile devices and Audio Visual equipment
- Provide support for all desktop services relating to PC software/hardware
- Manage and support all operating systems and end-user software
- Manage the communications platform (Microsoft365/Exchange Online), including workstation
- Manage hardware/software inventories, including licensing and laptops
- Manage end user accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with best practices
- Responsible for performing system backups and restores
- Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers
- Documentation and technical specifications information
- Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles
- Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance
- Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches
- Support CIS application, Utility enrollment System, and all other internal applications
- Log track and monitor issue with 3rd party provider and resolve problems to user satisfaction
- Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software
- Participate in negotiations with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to procure hardware/software products and services
- Required to be on-call and respond to system failure, system updates, and system maintenance.
- Will be required to carry a wireless device to respond to critical system failures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Knowledge & Experience
- In-depth experience with Microsoft Azure IaaS storage and compute
- Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Clustered Hyper-V environment, Windows 11 and Windows Server 2025
- Working technical knowledge of current network software, protocols, and standards, including FortiGate Firewalls, HP ProCurve Switches and Aruba Switches
- Hands-on experience with backup and recovery products
- Ability to program in an administrative language/script (Batch, PowerShell, VB)
- Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience
- Experience with data management on SQL Server
- Experience with cloud-based contact center telephony systems (Genesys preferable)
- Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information
- Knowledge of various storage technologies (SAN, RAID). Experience with Dell PowerVault storage preferable
- Knowledge of automated certificate management tools
Must Have:
- 5 yrs experience supporting Windows desktops, Microsoft Azure, Hyper-V
- Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online administration
- Experience with VLANs, switching and routing
- Knowledge of firewall principles and concepts as related to FortiGate firewalls
- Veeam administration experience
- Industry certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, etc)
Nice to Have:
- Microsoft SQL Server administration experience
- Experience with cloud-based contact center systems in a high volume call center setting
- Network assessment, monitoring, troubleshooting and performance tuning
Educational Requirements:
- Diploma, degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- The following certifications would be considered assets:
- Azure certification
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Security-related certifications

- Salary Range: The expected annual salary for this role is $70,000–$100,000, reflecting the skills and experience required for the position.
