Job Description:

We’re looking for a Best Practice Consultant to join our Group Retirement Services (GRS) Operations team. This role is a great opportunity for someone who is motivated by continuous improvement, enjoys solving business problems, and wants to build strong project, process, and operational knowledge in a collaborative environment.

As a Best Practice Consultant, you’ll support leaders and business partners across GRS Operations on projects, process improvements, and change initiatives. You’ll help ensure our teams have effective processes, clear documentation, and practical best practices that support strong Client service across Savings/Accumulation and Payout Annuities.

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring curiosity, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. You can organize information, ask thoughtful questions, analyze business needs, and work with others to move initiatives forward. You are comfortable supporting change, communicating clearly, and building positive working relationships with partners across the organization.

Preferred skills

Business analysis skills, including understanding business needs, documenting requirements, identifying impacts, and communicating information clearly to relevant groups.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues, identify options, and support timely resolution of operational or Client concerns.
Ability to support change in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.
Ability to organize and prioritize work across multiple initiatives with guidance and support from leaders or senior team members.
Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across teams and with business partners.
Ability to review data, summarize findings, and help identify opportunities to improve processes, quality, and efficiency.
Interest in continuous improvement and process redesign, with a willingness to contribute ideas and support implementation activities.
Strong communication skills, including active listening, asking questions, speaking up, and writing clearly.
Strong organization, planning, and time management skills.
Ability to prioritize work and manage deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Experience using presentation and collaboration tools such as Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Word.

Qualifications

Lean Six Sigma, PMP, business analysis, project management, or other related accreditation is considered an asset.
Previous experience supporting business analysis, project coordination, process improvement, operations, or change management activities.
Understanding of Sun Life and GRS Operations, including systems, products, and operational processes, is considered an asset.
Undergraduate degree in Business, or an equivalent university degree, college diploma, or related work experience.

Responsibilities

As a Best Practice Consultant, you will:

Support continuous improvement initiatives and process redesign activities across GRS Operations. This may include documenting current-state processes, identifying gaps, supporting analysis, and helping implement practical improvements.
Work with business partners and leaders to understand operational needs, gather information, and support the development of improved processes and best practice solutions.
Represent GRS Operations on projects and change initiatives that impact business operations, including process improvements, digital initiatives, regulatory changes, product changes, and operational readiness activities.
Support stakeholder communication by helping clarify expectations, track progress, document decisions, and escalate risks or issues when needed.
Help bridge the gap between Operations and IT by documenting business requirements, validating process impacts, and supporting end-to-end understanding of operational changes.
Support change management activities, including communications, training material updates, process documentation, and adoption support for impacted teams.
Create, maintain, and improve knowledge management content, process documentation, procedures, and job aids to support consistent operations.
Support GRS and Payout Annuity tools, including micro-automation tools, by helping document processes, identify enhancement opportunities, and support governance and risk management activities.
Support annual and recurring operational activities, such as RRSP deadline readiness, year-end readiness, audit support, and other business readiness activities.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted for. The Base Pay which you will be considered for will vary depending on the Campus program you are selected for.

Eligible Sun Life employees for various Campus Graduate programs will also participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance
