We’re Hiring: Multiple Heavy Equipment Operator Opportunities at Fort Hills!

Minimum Requirements:

Two years experience operating cable or hydraulic shovels, excavators, dozers, graders or haul trucks in an open pit mine or experience in tailing & drainage
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or 10 years of relevant work experience
Valid driver’s license and a 2-year clean driving record
Proven safety mindset
The ability to concentrate and maintain focus for long periods of time

Responsibilities:

Consistently follow our operating standards and procedures
Operate various makes and models of haul trucks, shovels, backhoes, dozers, and/or graders in adherence to our standards and procedures
Complete walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments and ensure the heavy equipment is running properly and respectfully intervene when necessary
Train and mentor others
Report any necessary repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors and report all incidents, damage and near misses immediately
Participate in and drive continuous improvement programs

Location and other Key details:

You will work out of our camp-based Fort Hills mining site, located in Alberta’s Athabasca region, 90 kilometres north of Fort McMurray, Alberta 
This is a Fly-in/Fly-out (FIFO) camp-based position; you will FIFO from a Suncor hub location: Calgary or Edmonton or bus in from Fort McMurray (relocation to a hub will not be provided)
The shift schedule is a seven days on /seven days off rotation (seven days on, seven days off, seven nights on, seven nights off; 12-hour shifts)
This position has been identified as safety sensitive

Responsibilities

Operate haul trucks, shovels, excavators, backhoes, dozers, and/or graders safely and in accordance with operating standards to support production targets. Complete equipment inspections and risk assessments, report repairs and incidents, mentor others, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Requirements

Applicants need at least two years of experience operating specified heavy equipment in an open-pit mine or in tailings and drainage, plus a high school diploma or GED, or 10 years of relevant work experience. A valid driver's license with a clean two-year driving record, a proven safety mindset, and the ability to maintain focus for extended periods are also required.
