As part of our team, you play a vital role in delivering energy we all rely on, and you'll make a meaningful impact in the communities where we live and work.

As the Sr Maintenance Advisor (Rigging) you will provide expert advice, coaching, and support for rigging in lifting and load movement activities across Base Plant, including hoisting, bull rigging, and jacking. Working with maintenance, operations, and project teams, the role reviews rigging needs, solves field challenges, and supports safe, effective planning and execution through technical guidance, field engagement, and competency development.

What we offer:

We recognize your contribution and offer a range of rewards and development opportunities designed to support your success. Benefits/perks listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Suncor and the region where you work.

Strong compensation: we offer competitive compensation, regional-based uplifts, annual bonuses, and long-term financial rewards. We also help you save for your future by offering pension programs, and savings plans with company matching
Benefits: utilize an employee assistance program and comprehensive company-paid health, dental, and vision benefits for you and your family to support your mental, physical, and financial well-being
Generous time-off: enjoy generous paid vacation time and personal time-off to recharge and maintain a healthy work-life balance
Talent development programs: Internal mobility, succession planning, and employee training and development programs are just a few ways we’re dedicated to your development

Minimum Requirements:

10 or more years of experience leading rigging activities in an industrial setting
Extensive expertise in rigging activities, including below-the-hook operations, load drifting, and jacking systems
Expert knowledge of rigging systems, standards, codes, and industry best practices
Proven ability to assess rigging compliance and identify gaps in field practices
Strong communication, coaching, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Broad understanding of maintenance and reliability processes, with the ability to integrate rigging planning into safe execution workflows
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in dynamic field environments
Proficient computer skills for documentation and reporting; CAD skills for rigging plans are considered an asset

Don’t have all the qualifications listed? That’s ok! Apply anyway. We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills.

Responsibilities:

Provide technical advice and consultation for lifting, rigging, jacking, skidding, load drifting, and load movement activities
Support maintenance, operations and project personnel in the development of safe and practical rigging plans and execution strategies
Review plans and provide recommendations regarding rigging arrangements, equipment selection and load control methods
Conduct field walkdowns and site visits to support work planning, troubleshoot rigging challenges, and provide on-the-job coaching
Mentor and develop personnel involved in rigging activities by sharing technical knowledge, lessons learned, and industry best practices
Facilitate rigging-related training, knowledge transfer, and competency development initiatives
Support hazard assessments, incident investigations, learning teams, and continuous improvement initiatives by providing technical rigging expertise
Assist with the development, review, and continuous improvement of rigging plans, standards, procedures, safe work practices, guidance documents, and training materials
Collaborate with site stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve planning quality, execution effectiveness, and overall rigging performance
