About The Role
This is a remote role initially, with plans to transition to a hybrid work model based in downtown Toronto at 134 Peter Street, working in-office two times a week. As a Staff Frontend Engineer within the Availability Planning & Experiences team, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining the highly visible, mission-critical systems that enable our restaurant partners to define their operational setups. Your work will directly influence the user experience for top-tier clients, shaping features that manage shift scheduling, table layouts, and unique dining events. This position offers a unique blend of autonomy and ownership, allowing you to contribute to both design and technical decisions, ensuring scalable and intuitive UI architectures that meet complex business needs.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional software development experience, particularly in frontend application development.
- Expert proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Redux, and Node.js.
- Strong experience in designing, implementing, and scaling large, complex frontend systems.
- Proven ability to develop strategic architectural visions and drive multi-year technical roadmaps.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating technical trade-offs to cross-functional teams.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks such as React Testing Library, Jest, and Cypress.
- Demonstrated ownership mindset, with a focus on code quality, maintainability, and performance.
- Experience collaborating with designers and product managers, preferably with familiarity with design tools like Figma.
- Ability to lead and mentor team members, elevating coding standards and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Write, review, and maintain mission-critical frontend code using React, Redux, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Define and implement the technical vision for the Availability Planning system, ensuring scalable and intuitive UI architectures.
- Design and develop reusable abstractions and seamless integrations between the frontend and backend systems.
- Establish and uphold high standards for code quality through rigorous testing, code reviews, and best practices.
- Mentor team members, promote technical excellence, and elevate coding standards across the team.
- Drive large-scale projects from planning through to deployment, ensuring timely and effective execution.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet business needs.
- Stay updated with industry trends and incorporate modern tools and practices to enhance team productivity and code quality.
