Original job description
About Us:
Sunwing Vacations Group is home to North America’s largest vacation brands, comprised of the leading Canadian leisure tour operators Sunwing Vacations and WestJet Vacations, along with the growing United States based tour operator Vacation Express, together with the Group’s own travel retail businesses SellOffVacations.com and Luxe Destination Weddings. Our culture is driven by our EPIC Values (entrepreneurial, passionate, innovative, and customer-centric) and our teams work together to deliver our purpose “passionate people making vacation dreams come true”.
The Opportunity
Under Sunwing Vacations, we are looking for a Graphic Designer to join our team and help make vacation dreams come true.
Great design does more than make something look good. It gives an idea its voice, makes a brand recognizable and turns a campaign into something people actually notice.
The Studio is WestJet Group’s in-house creative team, working across WestJet, Sunwing, WestJet Vacations and SellOffVacations. We bring together writers, graphic designers, multimedia designers, creative leaders and project managers to create work across the full guest journey.
As a Graphic Designer, you’ll help shape how our brands show up in the world. Reporting to the Manager, Creative Brand and working closely with the Group Creative Director, writers, project managers and other designers, you’ll take ideas from early creative exploration through to finished, production-ready work.
This is not a production-only role. You’ll contribute to concepts, develop key visuals and build flexible campaign systems that work across channels without losing the strength of the original idea. Your work could live in a six-second social asset, across an airport, onboard an aircraft or on the aircraft itself.
The Studio works as part of a wider creative ecosystem. Some projects are created entirely in-house, while others are developed with agency and production partners. In every case, the goal is the same: a strong idea, excellent craft and a coherent brand experience.
Apply now and have your career soar to new heights - under our wing!
What You’ll Do
- Concept and design integrated brand and marketing campaigns across WestJet Group’s portfolio of brands.
- Collaborate with the Manager, Brand Design, Group Creative Director and writers from the beginning of a brief to develop strong, ownable creative ideas.
- Translate approved concepts into cohesive campaign systems that can flex across paid media, social, digital, CRM, web, out-of-home, print, airport, onboard, sponsorship, experiential and internal channels.
- Develop key visuals, visual territories, design systems, toolkits, templates and production guidance that allow ideas to scale consistently.
- Apply and evolve brand identities with strong judgment, ensuring each brand remains distinctive while contributing to a coherent WestJet Group experience.
- Create thoughtful, high-quality design using typography, layout, colour, photography, illustration, iconography and other visual elements.
- Work with writers to bring verbal and visual ideas together, ensuring copy and design strengthen one another rather than compete for space.
- Build clear, persuasive presentation materials that help creative ideas land with partners and senior stakeholders.
- Participate actively in creative reviews, presenting work and explaining design choices with clarity and confidence.
- Respond constructively to feedback, distinguishing between changes that improve the work and those that require further discussion or creative problem-solving.
- Prepare accurate, production-ready files for digital and physical channels, including versioning, resizing, localization, accessibility and final quality control.
- Understand channel and production requirements well enough to design work that is both creatively ambitious and technically deliverable.
- Partner with project managers to plan work, meet milestones, flag risks early and keep project information current in Monday.com.
- Manage your own workload across multiple concurrent projects, communicating clearly when priorities, timing or scope need to be resolved.
- Collaborate with agency partners, photographers, illustrators, animators, production companies, printers and other specialists when required.
- Support photoshoots, content production and art direction where appropriate, from preparation and reference development through to asset selection and finishing.
- Maintain organized working files, templates and final assets so that other team members can find, understand and build from the work.
- Contribute to the development of brand guidelines, Studio tools and more effective ways of working.
- Help build a creative culture grounded in curiosity, generosity, high standards and a shared desire to make work people notice.
What You’ll Need
- 5+ years of relevant design experience creating brand, advertising or integrated marketing work within a creative agency, in-house studio or similarly fast-moving creative environment.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, excellent design craft and the ability to carry an idea across multiple channels and formats.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
- Strong command of typography, layout, colour, image selection and visual hierarchy.
- Demonstrated experience developing campaign key visuals, brand systems, toolkits and production-ready assets.
- A solid understanding of design production for both digital and physical channels, including file preparation, specifications, colour management, versioning and quality control.
- Experience designing within established brand systems while knowing when and how to push them forward.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain creative thinking to both creative and non-creative partners.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.
- A conceptual mindset with strong attention to craft and detail.
- A collaborative, curious and low-ego approach, with the ability to receive feedback, explain creative choices and focus on making the work stronger.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple briefs and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work.
- Experience with Figma, After Effects, Premiere Pro or other motion and digital-design tools is considered an asset.
- Experience using Monday.com or a comparable project-management platform is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting photography, illustration, motion, experiential work or large-format production is considered an asset.
- Experience working across multiple brands or within a large, matrixed organization is considered an asset.
