Original job description

Our building at 505 Clark Drive was twice the size we wanted. We took it anyway and figured we'd work out how to pay for it later. Six years on, it holds a brewery, a taproom lounge, a patio and a retail shop, and the hospitality side needs someone to run it.

Superflux Beer Company

505 Clark Drive, Vancouver, BC V5L 3H6

Terms of employment: Permanent, full-time, 40 hours per week. Days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays as scheduled.

Start date: As soon as possible

Vacancies: 1

Language of work: English

Wage: $83,500 per year, salaried (40 hours per week)

Benefits: Health spending account ($2,500 per year, after 90-day probation); 3 weeks' vacation; performance bonus for results beyond targets, per a written annual bonus plan; manager meals and employee discounts.

About The Role

The Hospitality Leader is the General Manager of hospitality at 505 Clark Drive, accountable for the operations and financial performance of the lounge, patio and retail sales. The role reports to the Head of Hospitality and leads the FOH Leader, Kitchen Leader and Shift Leaders, and through them all front- and back-of-house staff.

Duties

Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of the lounge, patio and retail shop
- Lead the guest experience and food and beverage quality across all hospitality spaces
- Run the venue to the operating budget; drive sales, labour, cost-of-goods and average-check targets
- Hire, train, develop and lead venue leaders and staff; on-board and off-board team members
- Manage scheduling, payroll submission, purchasing, invoices and accounts payable
- Configure and maintain the point-of-sale system (Square)
- Develop events, features and promotions with the marketing team
- Lead health and safety, food safety and facility maintenance for the hospitality spaces
- Maintain venue systems and procedures, including nightly cash-out and weekly reporting

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree or diploma in business administration, commerce, hospitality management or a related field
- Experience: 3+ years in hospitality or food and beverage, including at least 1 year supervising or managing a team (kitchen, bar, front of house or venue) with responsibility for scheduling, ordering, and labour or food costs
- Serving It Right certification, current
- FoodSafe Level 1 or an equivalent food handler certification, current
- English (language of work)
- 19 years of age or older (required to serve liquor in BC)
- Strong leadership, communication and customer service skills; able to work well under pressure

Why work here

We've been brewing since 2015 and in this building since 2020. Our second room, {Cabana}, opened in Victoria in 2021. About 50 people work across the two.
- We hire, review and part ways on four values: Committed, Collaborative, Humble and Proud.
- Reviews look at results, not time served. You get the full venue P&L and we teach you to move it, not just report it.
- Every seat you lead has written procedures and a training path, so your time goes into building leaders, not rewriting the manual.
- The seat grows with us. As we add venues, it grows toward a multi-venue hospitality role.

How to apply

Apply through 86network, by email to adam@superfluxbeer.com, or by mail or in person at 505 Clark Drive, Vancouver, BC V5L 3H6.

Our purpose is to Bring Happyness & Do Cool Sh!t. We're looking for the person who reads that and wants to run the place.
