A Designer is responsible for completing the following duties:

Job Description
A Designer is responsible for completing the following duties:
- Creation and routing of bills of material and maintenance of detail drawings
- Use CAD to perform initial design functions and detail drawings
- Use Windows-based PC software, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Create accurate detail drawings according to general drafting standards
- Understand dimensioning and tolerancing
- Create bills of material in a structured manner
- Select standard steel shapes whenever possible
- Maximize steel usage by efficient layout of parts
- Utilize the capabilities of the Superior shop equipment when selecting steel
- Keep and maintain the drawing number log
- Be aware of existing designs to reuse/share as appropriate
- Verify that markups on shop drawings and/or bills of material are valid and are carried through
- Other duties as assigned
- Training and / or experience in Drafting/Detailing
- Training and / or experience in using AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Works or equivalent

- Ability to tolerate physical demands of the position
- Ability to complete tasks according to planned schedule

Responsibilities
Create and maintain bills of material and accurate detail drawings using CAD, following drafting and engineering standards. Select and lay out steel efficiently, reuse existing designs where appropriate, and verify that shop drawing and bill-of-material markups are correctly incorporated.
Requirements
Training or experience in drafting or detailing and experience using AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent are requested. The role also requires effective use of computer software, accurate and timely design work, good communication, and the ability to meet the position’s physical demands.
