Enjoy solving technical problems and seeing projects through from concept to operation? Superior Power Products (SPPL) is seeking a Mechanical Applications & Project Engineer to support equipment applications, system and process design, troubleshooting, and the delivery of shop and field projects.
SPPL supplies and services air compressors, rock drills, industrial blowers, and municipal equipment throughout Atlantic Canada. You will work with our technicians, sales team, suppliers, and customers to develop practical solutions involving mechanical systems, electrical controls, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and improve system and process designs, equipment configurations, and technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot equipment and system issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Oversee shop and field projects, coordinating technical requirements, schedules, materials, and completion.
- Prepare and interpret drawings, schematics, specifications, calculations, and bills of materials.
- Support technicians during assembly, installation, modification, testing, and commissioning.
- Assess customer needs and support equipment selection, quotations, and project scopes.
- Coordinate with manufacturers and suppliers to verify equipment suitability and compatibility.
- Maintain project documentation and ensure work meets applicable safety requirements, standards, and manufacturer specifications.
What You Bring
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electromechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent technical education, trade qualifications, and substantial relevant experience will also be considered.
- Practical experience with mechanical equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and fluid-power applications.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems and controls.
- Experience in technical troubleshooting and coordinating shop or field projects.
- Ability to read technical drawings and electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to customer sites throughout Atlantic Canada.
Assets: Experience with SolidWorks, Smart Draw, alternative system design or simulation software.
