About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Product Quality Lead to join our team in Toronto. You are the person who represents the customers inside our delivery process, from requirements through design, build, and testing, and the person who represents Supernova to the customers' QA team. You will own the test strategy across the full development cycle and you will do hands-on testing yourself.

The role suits someone who came up on the business side of lending, banking, or investments, as a product owner, BA, or QA, and who got curious enough about the technology to write their own SQL and pick apart a system design. You will spend most of your time with engineering teams, so you need enough technical depth to hold your own with them, and enough business depth to know when a requirement will not survive contact with a real customer workflow.

Responsibilities

Quality control across the lifecycle:

Review requirements, technical designs, and test cases before work starts, and push back when something is ambiguous, untestable, or does not match how the customers actually operate.
Define and own the overall test strategy: what gets tested, at which stage, by whom, and what evidence we deliver to the customers.
Work with product, engineering, QA, DevOps, and customer support to catch quality problems early rather than at the end.

Testing:

Write and execute test cases. This is a hands-on role, not a coordination-only one.
Prepare and maintain test data, including the messy, realistic cases that expose problems clean data hides.
Validate fixes and run regression passes ahead of customer-facing releases.
Define and implement the quality processes: how requirements get reviewed, when testing starts, what the entry and exit criteria are for each stage, how defects are logged, triaged, and escalated, and what the release sign-off looks like.

Working with customers:

Act as the day-to-day counterpart to our customers' QA teams during UAT and implementation.
Triage defects with customers and internally: reproduce, assess severity and impact, route, and follow through to closure.
Bring the customer's perspective into solutioning and design discussions early enough that it changes the outcome.

Qualifications

3+ years in lending, banking, or investment software, in a product owner, BA, BSA, or QA analyst role
Domain knowledge in at least one of: commercial or consumer lending, credit, deposits, or investment operations. You should be able to read a requirement and know what the customer's operations team will do with it
Direct client-facing experience. You have been in the room when a customer was unhappy and you handled it.
Strong written communication. Much of this job is defect write-ups, test evidence, and status that a customer will read.
Coordination across teams that do not report to you, and a track record of getting a process change adopted by influence rather than authority.
Experience defining a quality or delivery process from scratch, or materially reworking one, rather than only following someone else's.
Comfortable querying a database with SQL to verify results, investigate a defect, or build test data.
Startup or small-company experience, where you owned quality end to end without a large QA organization behind you preferred.
Experience using AI tools in your own work: generating and reviewing test cases, summarizing requirements, analyzing defect patterns preferred.
Experience with Linear, Jira, Confluence, or similar preferred
