Overview

Utility Operators

Sureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, with over 50 years’ experience, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction.

Work Local - Work Sureway!

Job Type: Full Time, Seasonal with Potential for Winter Employment

Schedule: 8 + hours per day, 5 &2, OT as per averaging arrangement

Location: Edmonton, AB and Surrounding Areas. No direct access with public transportation

Essential: Hard-working, reliable, flexible with schedule, ability to work in physically demanding conditions

Requirements:

Personal Reliable Vehicle
CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support

Pre-employment:

Drug and alcohol testing (urine-based test)
Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation

Utility Operator Responsibilities:

Safe operation of equipment as it pertains to stripping, ditching, sloping, leveling
Operate equipment in close proximity to ground personnel and other equipment
Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
Concrete breaking and removal using an excavator.

Utility Operator Qualifications:

Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience as a Utility operator.
Experience with Skid Steer, Loader, excavator

Responsibilities

The Utility Operator is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment for tasks such as stripping, ditching, sloping, and leveling. They must also perform concrete breaking and removal while adhering to company safety protocols and working closely with ground personnel.

Requirements

Candidates must have three to five years of experience as a Utility Operator and proficiency with skid steers, loaders, and excavators. A personal reliable vehicle and CSA-approved steel-toed boots are required, along with the ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
