This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of distributed energy resource management and support the continued evolution of modern utility operations. This role will help utilities understand how retail flexibility complements utility operations, educate our organization on DERMS, enable partners and customers, and influence the future evolution of our retail DER strategy. Working closely with Product, Sales, Pre-Sales, utilities, aggregators, and technology partners, you will help bring emerging DERMS capabilities to market, support strategic customer opportunities, advance standards-based integrations, and contribute to practical solutions that enable a more flexible and resilient grid.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales & Commercial Enablement

  • Support Sales and Pre-Sales during DERMS opportunities, customer discussions, and demonstrations.
  • Develop sales playbooks, demonstration scenarios, reference architectures, white papers, and educational material explaining Survalent's Grid-Centric DERMS strategy and retail DER capabilities.
  • Support Marketing with industry messaging, presentations, webinars, conferences, and customer success stories.

Utility & Partner Enablement

  • Support utilities implementing demand response, flexibility, and retail DER programs, including early customer deployments.
  • Develop implementation guidance, configuration examples, technical documentation, and best practices.
  • Build technical relationships with utilities, aggregators, system integrators, and technology partners, and help transfer knowledge to Customer Success and System Specialists.

Standards, Integration & Ecosystem Development

  • Promote interoperability through industry standards such as IEEE 2030.5 and related technologies.
  • Support the evolution of Survalent's IEEE 2030.5 Server, Node-RED integration toolkit, and standards-based integrations.
  • Collaborate with aggregators, technology partners, universities, utilities, and industry organizations, while evaluating emerging technologies supporting DER, flexibility, and utility integration

Product & Industry Influence

  • Gather customer and market feedback, identify product gaps and emerging use cases, and develop business cases supporting future investments.
  • Collaborate with the DMS Product Manager to prioritize retail DER capabilities within the broader Grid-Centric DERMS roadmap and validate proposed capabilities against real customer workflows.
  • Represent Survalent in customer meetings, workshops, demonstrations, conferences, and industry working groups, and share knowledge internally through training and technical presentations.

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Power Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience with electric utility operations, distributed energy resources (DER), demand response, flexibility programs, energy management systems, or related operational technologies.
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems and utility operations.
  • Experience working with utilities, technology partners, system integrators, or enterprise software customers.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and external partners.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Distribution Management Systems (DMS), DERMS, ADMS, EMS, or utility SCADA platforms.
  • Experience with IEEE 2030.5 (SEP2), OpenADR, MQTT, REST APIs, IEC 61850, CIM, MultiSpeak, or related utility integration technologies.
  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Virtual Power Plants (VPP), renewable energy integration, EV charging infrastructure, distributed energy aggregation, flexibility markets, customer energy programs, or demand response platforms.
  • Experience using Node-RED, scripting languages, API integration, or rapid prototyping tools.
  • Familiarity with GIS, CIS, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), customer energy management systems, or distributed asset registration.
  • Experience supporting technical sales, customer workshops, partner enablement, product commercialization, or technical marketing.
  • A hands-on mindset and demonstrated curiosity configuring, integrating, prototyping, or troubleshooting complex software systems.
