Original job description

Location: 8800 Glenlyon Pkwy, Burnaby, British Columbia

Career Level: Technical 4 (T4)

Working Mode: Hybrid (4 days per week in office)

Who are we?

Svante is a rapidly growing clean energy technology company making commercial-scale carbon capture and removal a reality and enabling global industries to play offense in the fight against climate change that will accelerate the global transition to a lower-carbon economy.

The growing success of our company is owed to our commitment to our people, our emphasis on our values, and our innovative technology. Passion is put into what we do every day.

Purpose of the Role:

Develop and commercialize structured adsorbent bed (SAB) products for point-source carbon-capture applications.
Translate performance requirements into safe, reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective designs - from early concepts through validation and production release.
Work across R&D, systems, materials, process, contactor engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to support product development and commercialization.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline; professional registration.
At least 10 years of experience, preferably with carbon capture, adsorption systems, structured contactors, filtration, heat exchangers, or process equipment.
Knowledge of pressure drop, mass transfer, thermal management, and gas-flow distribution.
Familiarity with polymeric, metallic, composite, adhesive, coating, or porous materials.
Experience with accelerated-life testing, reliability engineering, and statistical methods.
Familiarity with relevant ASME, ASTM, ISO, and pressure-equipment standards.

Bonus Skills and Qualifications:

Experience with PLM systems, configuration management, and ISO 9001 environments.
Experience designing with Creo CAD and Simcenter FEA is desirable.
Lean Six Sigma, project-management, cost-modeling, or supplier-development experience.

What Success looks like in this role

Develop point-source Structured Adsorbent Bed concepts, architectures, components, interfaces, and assemblies.
Translate process and customer requirements into engineering specifications and acceptance criteria.
Perform mechanical, thermal, structural, tolerance, and flow-distribution analyses.
Select materials compatible with adsorbents, process gases, temperature, pressure, humidity, and cycling conditions.
