Turn customer problems into production software
SweetTech builds financial technology for real operational needs. SweetOS is our platform of shared capabilities for building financial applications. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work directly with customers and our engineering team to turn those capabilities into applications people use every day.
How we build applications
You will work through SweetTech’s autonomous agentic development systems. These systems carry out implementation; your primary responsibility is to define intent, understand the application architecture, direct the agents, and validate the result rather than write application code directly.
SweetOS provides reusable building blocks for assembling applications repeatedly. A capability developed for one application can be made available to other applications through shared components and well-defined interfaces. You will learn how those building blocks fit together, how applications use shared capabilities, and where a change belongs so it can benefit more than one product.
This requires strong engineering judgment: break down requirements, specify behavior and constraints, understand data flows and permissions, review agent-generated changes, and verify correctness, security, and production readiness. You remain accountable for the outcome even when the systems perform the coding.
SweetTech has its own Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agentic Development Life Cycle. You will learn and follow these internal processes when defining work, directing autonomous agents, validating results, and delivering changes. Understanding our architecture and working within these development lifecycles are core responsibilities of the role.
Your role
You will own delivery from discovery and scoping through implementation, rollout, and adoption. You will direct autonomous agents across the application stack, understand how customers work, and make architectural decisions about which building blocks to compose, extend, or create. You will remain accountable for the software after the demo.
What you will own
Work with customer stakeholders and end users to map workflows, understand constraints, and define measurable outcomes and acceptance criteria.
Translate ambiguous business needs into a clear technical plan, realistic delivery milestones, and a working product experience.
Specify and orchestrate agent delivery of customer-facing interfaces, services, data models, and integrations by composing the platform’s reusable building blocks.
Connect customer systems and data with careful validation, error handling, access controls, and reconciliation where needed.
Take solutions from prototype to production with automated tests, operational monitoring, deployment plans, and support documentation.
Lead technical demonstrations, gather feedback, support onboarding, and investigate issues that prevent customer adoption.
Identify recurring needs across deployments and work with platform and product engineers to turn them into reusable capabilities.
Communicate scope, risks, trade-offs, and progress clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
What you bring
Strong full-stack engineering skills and experience shipping software that real users depend on.
Ability to move comfortably between customer conversations, interface design, APIs, databases, integrations, and production debugging.
Good judgment about security, data quality, reliability, and the difference between a useful prototype and a production-ready system.
Clear written and verbal communication, curiosity about business processes, and the ability to establish priorities when requirements are incomplete.
A disciplined approach to autonomous development: understand application architecture, direct agents effectively, review generated changes, test business behavior, and own the outcome.
Helpful experience
Financial services, lending, payments, enterprise integrations, implementation engineering, or delivering software in close partnership with customers. Experience with complex operational workflows and auditability is particularly useful.
What success looks like
Customers adopt the applications you deliver and achieve the agreed outcomes. Releases meet acceptance criteria, issues are diagnosed quickly, and handovers are clear. Each deployment strengthens the reusable platform instead of leaving behind an isolated solution.
Equity participation
Proposed total stock option grant: 16,000–24,000 options, vesting over four years with a one-year cliff. This is a total grant, not an annual award or an ownership percentage. The final grant is subject to board approval, confirmation of the applicable share basis, and the company’s equity plan and grant terms.
On-the-job training
Our on-the-job training program covers SweetTech’s internal processes, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agentic Development Life Cycle, agentic technology stack, and SweetOS operations. You will learn how to work with our autonomous development systems, navigate the application architecture, compose and reuse building blocks, and follow our workflows for validating and delivering changes.
Training includes guided work on real tasks, feedback from experienced team members, and practical learning in operating and troubleshooting SweetOS applications. Responsibilities will grow with your demonstrated understanding and readiness. Prior knowledge of SweetTech’s internal systems is not required.
Working at SweetTech
Full-time, on-site in Montréal. You must be authorized to work in Canada; visa sponsorship is not available. We value hands-on problem solving, learning, clear communication, and ownership from implementation through production.
Apply
Share your résumé and an example of a customer or user problem you solved with software. Describe how you clarified the need, what you built, the trade-offs you made, and what happened after launch. Public code is welcome, but a clear description of confidential work is equally useful.
