Original job description

You've built the experience. Now it's time to lead.

You know what it takes to deliver a successful PR program. You've built media relationships, secured coverage, managed competing deadlines, and learned how to make things happen in an agency environment.

Now you're looking for the opportunity to take the lead.

At Swerve, we're looking for a PR Account Manager who can bring strong PR experience, strategic thinking, and confidence to our client accounts. Someone who understands the details of execution but is ready to take greater ownership of client relationships, program strategy, and team leadership.

If you're currently a Senior PR Specialist or in a similar role and ready for the next step, we'd love to hear from you.

Please note: Previous PR agency experience is required for this position.

What You'll Be Responsible For

As a PR/MR Account Manager, you'll be the driving force behind the day-to-day success of your accounts. You'll balance client relationships, strategic planning, program execution, and team oversight to deliver results that matter.

Own the Client Relationship
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for clients, building strong relationships and maintaining exceptional service
  • Oversee PR program execution, ensuring deliverables and KPIs are achieved or exceeded
  • Establish, monitor, and evaluate program KPIs, identifying opportunities to improve results and adjusting plans as needed
  • Manage account budgets, monitor scope, and proactively forecast resources and requirements
Think Strategically
  • Create customized PR strategies and plans that support client objectives and connect with target audiences
  • Drive strategic planning discussions and contribute fresh ideas during team brainstorms
  • Keep a pulse on emerging PR and industry trends, sharing insights and recommendations with clients and colleagues
Lead and Support Your Team
  • Provide direction, mentorship, and day-to-day guidance to junior team members
  • Oversee the quality and accuracy of client reporting, including weekly coverage updates, monthly reports, and program wrap reports
  • Participate in employee development, performance feedback, and hiring initiatives
Deliver Strong PR and Influencer Programs
  • Write, review, and refine press releases, briefing documents, fact sheets, and other media materials
  • Develop and strengthen media relationships to support ongoing client success
  • Oversee influencer marketing programs, including talent selection, budgets, contracts, FTC compliance, and deliverables
  • Source, evaluate, and manage external partners, including freelancers, creative suppliers, and production vendors
Help Move the Agency Forward
  • Contribute to new business opportunities, including pitch development and client presentations
  • Assist with award entries, case studies, and agency marketing initiatives
  • Represent Swerve and our clients at industry events and trade shows
  • Support agency social media initiatives when required
What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who has built a solid foundation in public relations and is ready to apply that experience at a higher level.

You'll be a strong fit if you have:

  • 4–6+ years of public relations experience, including mandatory agency experience
  • Experience as a Senior PR Specialist or in a comparable position, with the ambition to take on more strategic and client leadership responsibilities
  • A demonstrated ability to execute media relations campaigns and integrated PR programs
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership capabilities
  • Hands-on experience managing account budgets, deadlines, and junior staff
  • Comprehensive knowledge of influencer marketing practices and FTC regulations
  • The ability to prioritize, adapt, and deliver in a busy, entrepreneurial agency setting

  • The Way We Work

At Swerve, how we approach our work matters just as much as the results we deliver. Our team shares four core values that guide everything we do.

    Solutions-Oriented

Challenges are part of agency life. We look for ways forward, bring ideas to the table, and focus on getting results.

    Scrappy

We're resourceful, adaptable, and quick to act. We take initiative and know how to get things done without waiting to be asked.

    Committed

We show up for our clients, support our colleagues, and take responsibility for delivering on our promises.

    Pride of Work

We believe quality matters. We care about the thinking, creativity, attention to detail, and impact behind everything we deliver.

Why Build Your Career at Swerve?

At Swerve, you'll join a collaborative team that values smart ideas, initiative, and creative problem-solving.

You'll have the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of your accounts, work directly with clients, influence program direction, and continue developing as a PR leader.

This is an opportunity to move beyond managing tasks and start leading the work.

Ready to take the next step in your agency career? We'd love to meet you.
