The Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting the Company’s OEM partnerships, with primary responsibility for delivering accurate, timely and insightful financial and operational reporting to our external partners.
This is a highly visible role that goes beyond producing reports. The successful candidate will develop an in-depth understanding of our business, programs, financial results and underlying data, enabling them to confidently explain results, identify issues and build credibility with both internal stakeholders and external OEM partners.
Reporting directly to the Senior Program Manager, Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with Finance, Program Management, IT and other business teams to ensure the integrity of reporting and the underlying data. They will be expected to approach discrepancies with curiosity, investigate issues through to their root cause, and work collaboratively to implement sustainable solutions rather than short-term fixes.
Success in this role requires someone who is analytical, detail-oriented and naturally curious, but who also enjoys working with people and can develop strong relationships with external partners based on trust, responsiveness and a strong command of the business and its data.
Essential Functions
- Own the preparation, analysis and delivery of accurate and timely financial and operational reporting for key OEM partners.
- Develop a strong understanding of partner programs, business drivers, financial results and the data supporting partner reporting.
- Act as a key Finance contact for external OEM counterparts, building strong working relationships through accuracy, responsiveness, credibility and knowledge of the business.
- Analyze financial and operational results, identify trends, anomalies and inconsistencies, and clearly communicate findings and business implications.
- Proactively investigate reporting and data discrepancies, determine the underlying root cause, and coordinate corrective actions.
- Partner closely with internal IT and business teams to ensure source data is complete, accurate and appropriately reflected in both partner reporting and the Company’s financial records.
- Perform reconciliations between operational data, partner reporting and financial results, identifying and resolving differences.
- Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting activities, including analysis and reconciliation of relevant balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Review reporting processes and controls and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, consistency and scalability.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and controls supporting financial reporting and data integrity.
- Support special projects, financial analysis and other business initiatives as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
- CPA designation, progress toward a CPA designation, or equivalent relevant financial experience preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, financial reporting, accounting or a related role.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with detailed financial and operational data and identify errors, inconsistencies and emerging trends.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate complex issues, determine root causes and drive issues through to resolution.
- Strong business acumen and an interest in understanding how the business operates, not simply how the numbers are reported.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility and productive working relationships with senior internal stakeholders and external business partners.
- Ability to explain financial and data-related issues clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, particularly when preparing information that will be shared externally.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within demanding reporting timelines.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with ERP and financial reporting systems. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and/or Workday would be considered an asset.
- Comfortable working across Finance, IT and operational teams to resolve data and reporting issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and raise issues appropriately when risks or discrepancies are identified.
- Experience in an entrepreneurial, high-growth or evolving business environment is considered an asset.
