Job type: Full-time

Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience in mechanical construction, design, estimating, proposals, project coordination, document control, or related work.
Posting language: English

Original job description

Reporting to a Pursuit Lead or Senior Pursuit Lead within the Mechanical Preconstruction group, the Pursuit Designer provides flexible coordination support across one or more mechanical pursuits. The role completes assigned tasks and defined work packages, follows up contributor inputs, supports compliance and document controls, maintains current records and evidence, prepares meeting and submission materials, and communicates status, capacity, and blockers. Accountability for pursuit strategy, final decisions, overall outcomes, and end-to-end pursuit control remains with the assigned Pursuit Lead or Senior Pursuit Lead.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Complete assigned pursuit tasks and defined work packages under the direction of a Pursuit Lead or Senior Pursuit Lead.
Support multiple concurrent pursuits by confirming priorities, deliverables, due dates, review requirements, and available capacity.
Maintain assigned action lists, input trackers, meeting records, compliance updates, evidence locations, and status records.
Follow up with mechanical, estimating, design, Operations, commercial, communications, and other contributors for required inputs and approvals.
Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, status updates, presentations, matrices, schedules, draft narratives, graphics, and other assigned pursuit materials.
Support compliance tracking by recording requirements, owners, evidence, review status, and submission locations for assigned items.
Maintain document organization, file naming, version control, review records, quality checklists, and submission archives for assigned responsibilities.
Review drawings, specifications, estimates, procurement documents, meeting records, and approved technical inputs sufficiently to complete assigned work and identify when senior input is required.
Identify missing, inconsistent, late, unsupported, or conflicting information and escalate it early to the assigned Pursuit Lead or Senior Pursuit Lead.
Apply established templates, brand standards, formatting requirements, and quality-control procedures to assigned deliverables.
Coordinate bounded pursuit sections or work packages with clear scope, milestones, contributor follow-up, evidence, and reviewer acceptance, without assuming overall pursuit accountability.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Minimum 2-5 years of experience in mechanical construction, design, estimating, proposals, project coordination, document control, or related work.
Strong organization, task management, follow-up, written communication, and quality-control capability.
Demonstrated ability to manage assigned tasks, contributor inputs, records, and deadlines across multiple concurrent priorities.
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, estimates, procurement requirements, and construction terminology sufficiently to support assigned work and recognize when senior review is required.
Effective communicator who provides concise status updates, raises capacity conflicts early, and works collaboratively with technical specialists, leadership, and support teams.
Adaptable and dependable when transitioning between pursuit assignments, changing priorities, and fixed submission deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365; experience with Bluebeam, scheduling, presentation, collaboration, document-control, and proposal-production tools is an asset.
Postsecondary degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, construction, engineering technology, business, communications, or a related field is preferred.

TRAVEL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Primarily based at Symtech head office with attendance at pursuit, design, coordination, and project meetings as required.
Limited travel within Ontario may be required for project familiarization, meetings, interviews, or site exposure.
Work is deadline-driven, may involve changing priorities across concurrent pursuits, and may require occasional extended hours during major submission periods.
