Our client partner is seeking an experienced Senior/Lead .NET Developer who wants to take ownership of the backend architecture and development of a major greenfield platform rebuild.

You'll collaborate closely with technical leadership, take ownership from architecture through production, and help establish engineering standards as the platform evolves.

This is an opportunity to go beyond day-to-day development, drive key architectural decisions, and help shape how a next-generation distributed system is designed, built, and scaled.

You'll have significant influence over microservices architecture, service boundaries, domain design, and technical decisions, working with C#/.NET, Kafka, DevOps, Azure, and AWS. Rather than simply maintaining an established codebase, you'll help build the foundation of a secure, scalable platform supporting real-time monitoring, connected technologies, and operational data processing.

🛠️ You Will:

• Design and build scalable backend services and microservices using C# and modern .NET.
• Help lead the architectural rebuild of an existing platform into a distributed microservices architecture.
• Define service boundaries, domain models, and communication patterns across services.
• Develop event-driven services using Kafka and other messaging technologies, including asynchronous processing and background workers.
• Build secure REST APIs using ASP.NET Core and modern .NET, with Entity Framework Core where appropriate.
• Design and optimize SQL databases, data models, and event-processing pipelines.
• Develop and support services across Azure and AWS.
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, role-based access controls, token validation, SSO, and Azure AD B2C integrations.
• Take hands-on ownership of DevOps and deployment practices, including CI/CD, containerization, automation, and production monitoring.
• Improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
• Establish coding standards, automated testing, documentation, and engineering best practices.
• Use AI-assisted development tools for prototyping, testing, documentation, and delivery.
• Collaborate with frontend, mobile, cloud, and infrastructure teams.

🧩 Desired:

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, with strong hands-on C# and .NET expertise.
• Proven experience designing, building, or modernizing microservices architectures.
• Ability to explain service boundaries, domain grouping, architectural decisions, and technical tradeoffs.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, including event streaming, consumer groups, and reliable message processing.
• Strong practical DevOps experience, including CI/CD, containerization, deployment automation, and production operations.
• Strong experience developing enterprise-scale APIs, backend services, and background workers.
• Experience with Entity Framework / EF Core, SQL databases, data modelling, and performance optimization.
• Understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, message brokers, queues, and distributed state.
• Experience developing, deploying, or monitoring applications in Azure, AWS, or both.
• Experience with secure API design, OAuth2, OIDC, SSO, role-based permissions, and enterprise authentication.
• Understanding of automated testing practices such as TDD, BDD, or similar approaches.
• Strong technical ownership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Comfortable working in Agile environments and using modern AI-assisted development tools.

🪶 Other Skills:

• Hands-on Kubernetes experience, including orchestration, scaling, and troubleshooting.
• Experience modernizing monolithic applications into distributed microservices.
• Knowledge of domain-driven design and distributed data management.
• Experience with high-throughput, near-real-time data processing.
• Background in IoT, connected devices, hardware telemetry, or industrial software.
• Familiarity with Angular or React.
• Experience with .NET MAUI or mobile backend development.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform or Bicep.
• Experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, and observability tools.
• Knowledge of Kafka message ordering, idempotency, retries, and delivery guarantees.
• Experience mentoring developers or providing technical guidance.
