Our challenge
We are seeking a Calypso QA Automation Engineer to design, develop, and execute automated and manual testing solutions for the Calypso capital-markets platform. The role will focus on validating trading, risk, settlement, accounting, reporting, and integration functionality across the software development lifecycle.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is CAD $100k – CAD $120k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Analyze business and technical requirements and create comprehensive test scenarios.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts for Calypso applications and related systems.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, system, end-to-end, and API testing.
- Test Calypso workflows across asset classes such as:
- Fixed Income
- FX
- Derivatives
- Money Markets
- Equities
- Repo and securities lending
- Validate trade lifecycle processes, including trade capture, confirmation, settlement, accounting, payments, and reporting.
- Verify interfaces between Calypso and external systems, market-data providers, messaging platforms, and downstream applications.
- Use SQL to validate front-office, back-office, and database results.
- Execute automated test suites, analyze failures, and identify root causes.
- Log, track, and manage defects using tools such as Jira, Quality Center, or similar platforms.
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers, Calypso consultants, and production-support teams.
- Participate in test planning, estimation, release validation, and defect triage.
- Maintain test documentation, automation frameworks, test data, and execution reports.
- Support continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience testing Murex, Calypso, or another capital-markets platform; Calypso experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of financial markets and trade-processing workflows.
- Experience with automation tools or frameworks such as:
- Selenium
- Java, Python, or Groovy
- Cucumber
- REST Assured or similar API-testing tools
- JUnit or TestNG
- Strong SQL skills for backend and data validation.
- Experience with REST and SOAP web-service testing.
- Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, Maven, and CI/CD practices.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred, but not required:
- Experience with Calypso APIs, Scheduled Tasks, Data Server, and configuration-driven testing.
- Knowledge of Calypso modules such as Front Office, Back Office, Risk, Accounting, Settlement, Reporting, and Reference Data.
- Experience with FIX, SWIFT, MQ, or other financial messaging protocols.
- Familiarity with cloud environments and containerized testing.
- Understanding of performance, batch, migration, and upgrade testing.
- Experience creating reusable automation frameworks from the ground up.
