Senior Enterprise Architect – Canada Financial Services Consulting Practice

Role Purpose

Synechron is seeking a Senior/Principal Enterprise Architect to provide technical leadership across its Canada Financial Services consulting practice. This role will drive architecture excellence, innovation, regulatory compliance, and hands-on technical quality across complex banking and financial services engagements.

The successful candidate will be a deeply technical, hands-on architect, not solely an advisory leader. They will shape enterprise architecture, lead critical design decisions, review architecture-critical implementations, mentor architects and engineers, evaluate emerging technologies, and develop reusable frameworks and intellectual property.

The role requires the ability to operate effectively from the code and infrastructure level through enterprise architecture and C-suite technology strategy.

Challenge Statement

Drive architecture excellence across complex Financial Services transformations while combining deep technical expertise with enterprise-level leadership. Ensure solutions across cloud, data, AI, integration, and security are scalable, resilient, and compliant with Canadian regulatory requirements. Lead through hands-on technical credibility, not solely architecture governance

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is $180k - $200k/year & benefits (see below).

  • Define and enforce architectural standards, patterns, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and design principles.
  • Review complex architectures and challenge technical decisions across performance, scalability, cost, security, resilience, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead client architecture workshops, technology assessments, Architecture Decision Boards, and solution design reviews.
  • Ensure architectures comply with Canadian Financial Services regulatory expectations, including OSFI, PIPEDA, AML/KYC, data privacy, and AI/model governance requirements.
  • Identify architectural and technology risks early and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.

Hands-On Technical Delivery

  • Remain directly involved in detailed solution design, technology selection, PoCs, and critical implementation decisions.
  • Review architecture-critical production code, APIs, data models, infrastructure-as-code, security controls, and cloud implementations.
  • Work with engineering teams to ensure implementation aligns with architectural intent.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance during development, testing, deployment, and production optimization.
  • Prototype and validate new technologies rather than relying solely on conceptual architecture.
