Estimator - Glass & Glazing
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join a growing glass and glazing company. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting residential, commercial, and specialty glazing projects by preparing accurate and competitive estimates based on construction drawings, specifications, and site conditions.
This role requires strong technical knowledge and the ability to confidently read, interpret, and extract project scope from architectural drawings, blueprints, and shop drawings. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of glass and glazing systems, materials, and installation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed estimates and quotations for glass installation and replacement projects.
Read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, shop drawings, and project specifications to determine project scope, materials, and labour requirements.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs directly from drawings, including dimensions, glass types, hardware, and installation methods.
Review site conditions and project requirements to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
Communicate with clients, contractors, and suppliers to clarify project specifications, drawings, and technical details.
Coordinate with project managers to support project budgeting, scheduling, and scope alignment.
Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotations, and bid submissions.
Follow up on submitted quotations and bids to support business development and secure new projects.

Ideal Candidate
Proven ability to read, interpret, and understand construction drawings and blueprints (required).
Previous experience in estimating within the glass, glazing, or construction industry; glass and glazing experience is strongly preferred.
Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant tools.
Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines effectively.
Strong follow-through, reliability, and a client-focused approach.
Minimum of 3 years of construction estimating experience is preferred.
