Operations Manager - Building & Facilities

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Operations Manager to oversee building operations across a diverse residential and commercial property portfolio in Iqaluit. This leadership role involves managing facilities, maintenance programs, and a team of 15-20 employees while ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations in a northern environment.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily building operations, maintenance, and facilities services.
Lead, mentor, and support maintenance teams and supervisors.
Manage boiler plants, glycol heating, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Conduct property inspections and mechanical assessments.
Develop and monitor preventative maintenance programs.
Coordinate repairs, service requests, contractors, and capital projects.
Oversee operating budgets, inventory, and resource allocation.
Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
Maintain positive relationships with tenants, vendors, and internal teams.
Participate in on-call rotations and respond to after-hours emergencies.

Qualifications

Class 4 Power Engineering Certificate (required).
Class 3 Power Engineering Certificate is a strong asset.
6+ years of experience in building operations, facilities management, or property leadership.
Strong technical knowledge of building mechanical systems, including boilers, glycol heating, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
Proven experience leading maintenance or facilities teams.
Experience with preventative maintenance planning and work order systems.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Willingness and ability to relocate to Iqaluit, Nunavut.

Compensation & Benefits

$145,000+ annual salary, negotiable based on experience.
