Design Release Engineer
Location: Windsor, ON (Onsite 1-2 days per week)
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Pay Rate: $43.55/hour
Synergy Consulting Group is seeking a Design Release Engineer to support the development, validation, and release of transmission and driveline systems for a leading automotive manufacturer. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full product lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver innovative and reliable drivetrain solutions.
The ideal candidate will bring experience with automotive transmission and driveline components, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a passion for driving engineering excellence from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and release of transmission and driveline systems and components.
- Collaborate with CAE, NVH, durability, vehicle dynamics, packaging, manufacturing, and supplier teams to ensure successful system integration.
- Develop and execute Design Verification Plan & Reports (DVP&R) including component, system, bench, and vehicle-level testing.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues through structured root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
- Support supplier selection, design reviews, and engineering approval processes.
- Develop and maintain DFMEA, DVP, and other technical documentation.
- Generate and manage system and subsystem technical specifications.
- Prepare and present technical reports, design reviews, and project updates to stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve product performance, durability, quality, and warranty cost.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of automotive engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of transmission and driveline systems and components.
- Experience working with one or more of the following:
- Power Transfer Units (PTU)
- Rear Drive Modules (RDM)
- Axles
- Transfer Cases
- Differentials
- Gear Reducers
- Bearings
- Torque Converters
- Shifting Systems
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using root cause analysis tools such as Fishbone Analysis, Is/Is Not, 3L5Y, or Red X.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple programs and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering or related field.
- DFSS Green Belt Certification.
- Experience with DFMEA and DVP&R processes.
- Experience conducting in-vehicle diagnostics and NVH evaluations.
- Working knowledge of CAE/CFD analysis tools.
- Experience with NX and/or CATIA.
- Familiarity with GD&T.
- Experience translating vehicle functions into engineering requirements.
