JOB DESCRIPTION

Compensation

93,500.00 - 175,400.00 CAD Annual

Purpose

The Senior Manager, Sustainability is a member of the global Sustainability team responsible for advancing Sysco’s sustainability strategy, Securing the Future of Food, across Canada while also contributing to broader North America growth priorities as part of the global team. This role will be responsible for driving key Sustainability initiatives across the Canada organization, with a particular focus on growing One Planet One Table assortment with customers as the lead KPI, while also advancing other elements of the strategy including supplier engagement, sustainability data and tools, customer enablement, and cross-functional program delivery. The ideal candidate combines sustainability expertise with strong program management and stakeholder engagement skills to deliver measurable environmental and business impact.

Responsibilities

Market-Level Strategy & Planning

Develop and execute sustainability plans for the Canadian market that align with Sysco’s global strategic framework and local regulatory requirements.
Identify opportunities to integrate sustainability into core business processes and operations.
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance sustainability objectives.
Partner with internal teams (merchandising, operations, technology, marketing) to embed sustainability into decision-making.
Support broader North America growth initiatives as part of the global Sustainability team, helping scale customer sustainability solutions, commercial storytelling, and best practices across markets where relevant.

Program Development & Execution

Grow the One Planet, One Table sustainable assortment in Canada, partnering with merchandising, technology, marketing, and other cross-functional teams.
Lead Sysco Canada’s Emerging Supplier Program with an initial focus on indigenous vendors through the Pathways to Procurement initiative.
Drive Sysco Canada’s sustainability messaging and stakeholder engagement activities.

Sales Enablement & Customer Engagement

Provide strategic guidance and leadership to support local and national sales teams with sustainability collateral, RFP responses, and targeted strategies for key customers. Serve as escalation point for complex issues and customer requests overseen by the sustainability coordinator.
Act as a sustainability subject matter expert (SME) for customer-facing initiatives, including food donations, waste management, fleet optimization, and facilities strategies.

Performance Tracking & Reporting

Establish processes for tracking market-specific sustainability initiatives, analyzing impact, and reporting results to leadership. Ensure ongoing program improvement through feedback, data-driven insights, and cross-functional collaboration.

Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
7+ years of experience in sustainability strategy, program management, or related roles, ideally within foodservice or consumer goods.
Strong knowledge of Canadian sustainability regulations.
Proven ability to lead complex initiatives and influence senior stakeholders

Education

Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field is preferred.

Responsabilités

Stratégie et planification à l’échelle du marché

Élaborer et mettre en œuvre des plans de développement durable pour le marché canadien, conformément au cadre stratégique mondial de Sysco et aux exigences réglementaires locales.
Repérer les occasions d’intégrer le développement durable aux principaux processus et activités opérationnels de l’entreprise.
Établir et entretenir des relations solides avec les parties prenantes internes et externes afin de faire progresser les objectifs de développement durable.
Collaborer avec les équipes internes (commercialisation, exploitation, technologies et marketing) afin d’intégrer le développement durable aux processus décisionnels.
Soutenir les initiatives de croissance à plus grande échelle en Amérique du Nord au sein de l’équipe mondiale du développement durable, notamment en contribuant, lorsque pertinent, au déploiement à plus grande échelle de solutions de développement durable destinées aux clients, à la communication des avantages commerciaux et aux meilleures pratiques dans les différents marchés.

Élaboration et mise en œuvre de programmes

Développer l’offre durable One Planet, One Table au Canada, en collaboration avec les équipes de commercialisation, des technologies, du marketing et les autres équipes interfonctionnelles.
Diriger le Programme des fournisseurs émergents de Sysco Canada, en mettant initialement l’accent sur les fournisseurs autochtones dans le cadre de l’initiative Pathways to Procurement (Parcours vers l’approvisionnement).
Piloter les activités de communication de Sysco Canada en matière de développement durable ainsi que les initiatives de mobilisation des parties prenantes.

Soutien aux ventes et mobilisation des clients

Fournir des conseils stratégiques et assurer un leadership auprès des équipes de vente locales et nationales en préparant des outils et du matériel de communication sur le développement durable, en contribuant aux réponses aux demandes de propositions (DP) et en élaborant des stratégies ciblées pour les clients clés. Agir comme personne-ressource pour la résolution des enjeux complexes et le traitement des demandes des clients relevant de la coordination du développement durable.
Agir à titre d’expert(e) en la matière en développement durable pour les initiatives destinées aux clients, notamment les dons alimentaires, la gestion des déchets, l’optimisation du parc de véhicules et les stratégies liées aux installations.

Suivi du rendement et rapports

Mettre en place des processus permettant de suivre les initiatives de développement durable propres au marché canadien, d’en analyser les retombées et d’en présenter les résultats à la direction.
Veiller à l’amélioration continue des programmes grâce à la rétroaction, à l’analyse des données et à la collaboration interfonctionnelle.

Compétences et expérience

Baccalauréat en développement durable, en sciences de l’environnement, en administration des affaires ou dans un domaine connexe; un diplôme d’études supérieures constitue un atout.
Plus de sept ans d’expérience en stratégie de développement durable, en gestion de programmes ou dans un domaine connexe, idéalement dans le secteur de la restauration commerciale ou des biens de consommation.
Bonne connaissance des exigences réglementaires canadiennes en matière de développement durable.
Capacité démontrée à diriger des initiatives complexes et à exercer une influence auprès de parties prenantes de haut niveau.

Formation

Diplôme universitaire ou collégial dans un domaine connexe, de préférence.
