Original job description

About SYSTRA IBT

SYSTRA IBT (International Bridge Technologies) is an engineering firm solely dedicated to bridge engineering. We offer specialized engineering services in all facets of bridge design, construction, and maintenance.

Our niche bridge types include steel-concrete composite and all concrete cable-stayed structures, extradosed structures, and segmental concrete bridges. We are a world leader in metro and high-speed rail elevated guideway design. We emphasize the importance of producing bridges tailor-designed for their site that are constructible and economical without sacrificing elegance. We aim to develop cost-saving concepts with well-conceived construction methods, selecting suitable materials based on cost-effectiveness.

Our bridge projects have been built in the United States, Canada, Panama, Australia, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Taiwan, and in the Middle East. We have offices located in Canada, the United States and the Middle East.

SYSTRA IBT is part of the SYSTRA group, an international consulting and engineering group, a world leader in the design of transport infrastructures.

Role and responsibilities

Perform structural analyses with Larsa and engineering calculations for bridge projects with growing independence.
Prepare technical documents, reports, drawings and specifications, calculation notes, and design deliverables from the preliminary phase through to the issuance of construction drawings.
Collaborate with senior engineers to develop design solutions and ensure compliance with contract requirements and applicable standards.
Coordinate assigned design tasks and maintain accurate documentation related to project progress and deliverables.
Participate in and contribute to internal quality control processes.
Communicate effectively within multi-disciplinary project teams.
Participate in meetings, site visits, inspections, and construction support activities as required.
Contribute to resolving technical issues arising during design development and, where applicable, during construction.
Continue to develop technical expertise in the design, analysis, and development of applicable details for complex bridges, as well as relevant industry standards.
Other related tasks.

Registration as a Professionnal Engineer in other Canadian provinces is an asset.

Technical competencies:

Good knowledge of bridge structural design principles, engineering software, and relevant industry codes.
Experience performing structural analyses and engineering calculations for bridge or infrastructure projects.
Site experience on infrastructure construction projects, particularly performing field reviews.

Personal & soft skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Attention to detail and good judgment.
Effective communication and coordination skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines and schedules.
Eagerness to continue developing technical and professional capabilities.
Willingness and availability to travel as needed.
